Hi, I'm Sam
I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.
About Me
Son of God. Son of Scotland.
I'm 20 years old, and am currently finishing my degree in Politics and History. I love having intellectual chat, and a good philosophical argument. I have many interests in culture, sport, history, ethics, philosophy, music, poetry, literature, politics and of course religion.
I have plans to join the British Army after University and also want to travel the world. My ultimate heroes are Aragorn, Jean Valjean and Jesus Christ. I want to follow their examples of goodness, as should all men.
Why I am a Mormon
I was the first in my family to be baptised into the Church at the age of 11. Perhaps like a lot of you, by this age I was already a "bad boy" and trying to do good and right was and still is a hard struggle for me. I wouldn't describe myself as a spiritual giant put it that way! But, I have a sure and certain knowledge of what is "good" and what is "bad" and this helps me. The Church's doctrine i know comes from God and is fully based on wisdom. With all my heart I believe in Jesus Christ and my father in heaven so therefore, to do good is what needs to happen in order for me to progress. The Church and the people here have become my family and it is the one thing in my life which consistently brings me joy and happiness. Relationships, memories, love and knowledge are the only things we can take with us once we go... The Church offers these things in abundance. It has blessed my life, and has brought me to realize that not all treasures are silver and gold.
How I live my faith
I serve as a counsellor in the young mens progamme, which I love. There is no greater calling than working with the youth and trying to help them through the same experiences and difficulties that you had.
When I hear my young men talk of how they look up to me of all people, it really touches me, and so I have learnt to really love them and be a better, stronger man for them.
