About Me

I am in the Sacramento North Stake. I enjoy serving in any capacity, especially with the youth of the church. This church is a way of life that brings tremendous happiness as we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. We place great emphasis on family values and provide an opportunity for all to learn.

Why I am a Mormon

This church is a family centered church. It is a lifestyle with correct and true principles. There is a living prophet who guides the church today through revelation. It is the Church of Jesus Christ. The church allows each of us to grow as individuals, and provide opportunities to serve. I love this church. It is built on a strong foundation with eternal benefits.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

My mother is a convert to the church. My wife is a convert to the church. My mother in law is a convert to the church. Having these women in my life as converts has strengthened my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and also how I see things from a different perspective.

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

I have seen mighty changes come to many friends and family due to their faith in Jesus Christ. A few of my close friends growing up joined the church and remain very active today. Faith is an action word, and one that the church fully embraces.

How I live my faith

Each and every day. I hope that I provide a strong example for others to see our good works. I put my trust in God, do all that I can, and serve others and my family.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. The two books of scripture are compatible with each other. The records are a history of the people that lived in that continent.

We believe that the Bible is the word of God, given through his Apostles and Prophets in the days of old. Through generations the bible has been translated time and time again, and now it stands with some of the simple truths of Christs teachings being either removed or complicated. That is why there are so many different views on what the scriptures teach, and so many churchs created for those views. We believe that God has restored those simple truths and clarified the complicated view through the Book of Mormon which is a record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

My father is gay and I have many friends who are gay. Though we have some differing opinions and beliefs, we have a great relationship - each respecting the other's right to choose their own way. Its no secret that the Church does not support gay marriage. We believe that God's plan for the family is, always has been and always will be a man and a woman and their children. However, the perception that the church is anti-gay is inaccurate. We support the rights of all men and woman to exercise their free agency and be entitled to the same legal rights as anyone, as long as they don't erode the principles on which our country was founded - freedom of religion. The scriptures affirm that homosexual behaviors are a sin, but I believe Christ understands the extreme difficulty that a gay person would experience refusing to act upon their same-sex attraction. I also believe that through Him, all things are possible and that no person is unworthy or undeserving of His love and the benefits of His atonement.
