Quinton "Quin" Motteshard: Wicked the Musical, Disney, Art, Video games, Friends, Videos, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Quinton "Quin" Motteshard

I'm an artist, I'm a college student, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 6' 6", I'm a college student, an artist, a writer, director, camera guy, and video editor (I record videos and post them on YouTube) . I also like classic movies and television shows such as "I Love Lucy", "The Wizard of Oz", and many others. I am a HUGE fan of WICKED the Musical! I love to draw. Whether it is WICKED fan art, Disney characters, or my own original characters, no matter what it is, I love the talent I have been given and it keeps me occupied. I am also into video/computer games such as Sims 3, Animal Crossing, Just Dance, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

I love my family, friends, the Gospel, dark chocolate, and going to the Temple. Like everyone else, I have dreams. I hope to work for Disney one day. It's been my dream to work for Disney as an artist since I was in Kindergarten. Obviously, I'm a big Disney fan. I would also like to perform in Wicked the Musical or have some sort of career in Motion Pictures. The future is bright!

I love to have a good time. How I have a good time is by going out with my friends and have fun doing whatever we can think of. Whether it's going on an adventure, a hike in the mountains, eating one of the largest ice-cream sundaes you will ever see, making a crazy video, a photo shoot, or dancing until we can't dance no more, we always have fun and I'm grateful for that. Friendships are a great blessing and I love my friends very much. They have been a wonderful example to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, so I grew up a Mormon. I had a testimony, but it was simple. When I was in High School, I went to church, but I did not participate very much. I also wasn't reading the Book of Mormon, or the Bible as much as I should have. I prayed, but not often. Because of that, my testimony was so weak, it practically did not exist.
After I graduated High School in 2009, I met a girl, who is a Mormon, and we became good friends. I went to visit her and her family in October 2009 and I went to church with them. It was a Fast Sunday, so Sacrament meeting was also a Testimony meeting. Listening to the Testimonies given by the members, as well as my friend's siblings, made me realize that this Gospel is true. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true! That was the day I started getting my testimony back. From that day forward, I have had several experiences that increased my Testimony of the Gospel and other Gospel Topics.

I am proud to be a part of this Gospel. I won't deny it! My life was miserable becase I wasn't living the Gospel like I should have been. But that's all different now.
I know Joseph Smith is and was a prophet of God and I know Thomas S. Monson is a prophet today. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I love my family and friends, and I am glad for the opportunity I have to share this Gospel with others. I know that Christ was on the Earth and that he Atoned for our sins and died for us. I know He will come again. Though I still go through some hard times, I know that I can turn to our Heavenly Father, and he will help me get over whatever I am going through.
This Gospel really does bless our lives. I've seen it bless my life, as well as the lives of others. I've been blessed with a wonderful family, amazing friends, and some really cool talents. I've also been blessed with the Gift of the Holy Ghost to guide and comfort me in life and to inspire me to create the Characters I draw, and write the novels I write.

Personal Stories

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Gift of the Holy Ghost is one of the greatest gifts our Father in Heaven has given us on this Earth. The Holy Ghost has helped me through the hard times in my life. I was recently thinking of my best friend and how she's in Florida for her internship and how I am on my Mission and I won't get to see her for two years. Just thinking about her, and all we've done over the past couple years, made me cry. I cried for a few minutes and I just felt the comfort of the Holy Ghost telling me everything is going to be okay. A few days later, I got a letter from her! I am grateful for this precious gift. He is always there for me, as he is there for others.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

When I was a kid, I would bear a small Testimony on the first Sunday during Sacrament meeting. In that Testimony, I would say "I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God" and move on. I never said why I knew Joseph Smith was a Prophet. I've been on my mission for three months now. I teach about Joseph Smith quite often, and because of that, I now have a reason why I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God:

I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. I know, that by the power of God, he restored Christ's church on this earth and translated the Book of Mormon. I am grateful that Joseph Smith had the desire to know which church he should join--for there were many religions that preached many different things. Because of that desire to know the truth, he prayed to our Heavely Father, and He answered his prayer. Our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph and told him not to join any of the churches and that His church would soon be restored upon the earth. And it has been.

I am grateful for this Gospel. This Gospel truly brings us Blessings. Without this Gospel, I would have no idea where I would be.

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

I have read the Book of Mormon about four times now. Every time I did, I learned something new and found a verse that I didn't even notice before. On January 1, 2011, I started reading The Book of Mormon again. I finished it in three months. While I was reading, I was curious to find out how many times it talks about "Repentance". So, I had a green pen in hand, and as I read, when ever I saw the words "REPENT", "REPENTance, "REPENTed, etc (Key Word REPENT), I would underline it and draw a mark on a sheet of paper. I would also underline a verse that stood out to me. Three months later after I finished reading the Book of Mormon, I counted the marks and I counted aprox. 318. "REPENT" is mentioned over 300 times in The Book of Mormon.

I started reading The Book of Mormon again in June 2011 after I got my Mission call. I finished it November 14, 2011. I did A LOT of underlining this time. After I read, I took Moroni's challenge/promise (Moroni 10. 4-5). I got down on my knees with my scriptures in my lap and prayed to our Heavenly Father asking to know if the Book of Mormon was true. After I prayed, I looked over at my companion and I told him "The Book of Mormon is true." That just increased my testimony of the Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon is more than just Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It helps us understand how we can be more Christ-like and return to our Heavenly Father. 2 Nephi 32:3 says "Feast upon the words of Christ, for the Words of Christ will tell ye what ye should do." The Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible, is the word of Christ. It does tell us what we should do. I know the Book of Mormon is true.

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

One experiene I had a year ago really increased my testimony about prayer: I graduated High School in 2009 and went to a local community college that Fall. I was struggling in one of my classes, and in general, I wasn't really happy. Yeah, my grades were good, I just didn't feel like I belonged there. After a trial that I went through about halfway through the semester, I wanted to go to another school. I filled out the application for the University I wanted to go to, and I fasted and prayed for almost six months. I got one of my friends, who was going to the same University I applied at, to fast and pray with me. In March of 2010, I got an email from the University, and it was my Acceptence letter! My prayer was answered. I was so thankful that Heavenly Father answered my prayer and I continued to thank him every night while I went to school there. I can most definitly say I was much more happy at that University than I would have been if I went somewhere else.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

As I mentioned, I have been blessed with the gift of art and video production. Art has a big influence on my life and video production is a great way to share my talents with the world. By using my talents for righteous purposes, I can make a statement with what I draw and with my videos, I can invite others into my life and say "This is me, this is what I do, I love doing what I do, and guess what? You're coming too!" I can show everyone that I am no different from everyone else and that I like to have fun and maybe, I can influence someone on the otherside of the world to feel the same way and increase their individual worth.

One art project I would like to do in the future is to paint a Mural somehwere in my hometown to help everyone to take a stand for what they believe in and remember who they are.

All our talents can make a difference. We just need to figure out how.

How I live my faith

I try to look for the good in people. Who am I to judge others, when I will be judged for my actions when the time comes? I love helping/serving others. It is becase of my love for our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the many examples he set for us that makes me want to serve others. I feel blessed when I make someone happy.
I also study the scriptures and words of the Latter-Day Prohpets and do my best to live by their teachings. Especially in a world where Evil and Temptation seem to be around every corner. I enjoy reading the Book of Mormon. I have read it over 4 times and as of now, I am doing some serious marking. I love learning about the History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and what the early members had to go through. Even though their trials were different form mine, it reminds me that I am not alone and that I can put my trust in God, and He will help me.

I also enjoy going to church on Sundays with my family and friends and lerning more about the Gospel and how I can be a better Priesthood holder. I just love the spirital boost I get after Church and I feel like I can make it through another week.

All-in-all, I just live a good life the best I can. One of my favorite Primary songs is "I'm Trying to be Like Jesus." I am constantly singing the chorus in my head ("Love one another as Jesus loves you....") to remind me to be more like our Saviour.
