Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i love my savior Jesus Christ and I love to share the gospel wiht others and being able to take the sacrament every week is an amazing thing. I am so greatful to be a member and living the gospel AMAZING and word that i can not describe. My favorate thing is watching new members get baptized is just a blessing to me because it reminds me of when i got baptized and feeling pure and having the Holy Ghost with me at all times and in all places really helps boost my testimony.

Personal Stories

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

I have always gotten alot of questions like What is Mormon? What do you believe? Why do you not drink? Etc.... I have been able to tell them in the form of my testimony that Being Mormon is a rally neat thing and being able to go to church and thinking of my savior brings me closer to him. I know that through out loving prophets and our amazing missionaries will someday return to our home in heaven and be with our family. I also believe that with the power of prayer and through testimony that we can and will be saved. Having that clean feeling and not drinking is wonderful. We keep the spirit with us and be able to say no and being able to walk away just makes us that much stronger in the gospel.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer has helped me so much and had blessed me in so many ways. I feel so much better with after i have said a prayer and talking with my Heavenly Father. I have so many examples of prayer but one I want to focus on is when my finance left for his mission I felt like that part of me was missing and that it was going to take me a long time to be strong again. I was able to calmb down enought that i was able to talk to my Heavenly Father and ask that I was able to get back on my feet and be strong and I some how knew that he was going to keep my missionary safe and and that i was going to be ok and go on with my life. The power of prayer is so very strong and I am glad it is in my life.

Could you talk about your baptism?

When I was baptized at 8yrs old. I remember being so excited. I called everyone that I knew and told them to come and see me get baptized. I remember getting ready and just so excited to finally be baptized. I remember when it was finally time to get baptized, walking down into the water and having my grandpa baptize me. Such an amazing experience. Comming out of the water I was still so excited and I had the biggest smile. Getting dressed again and comming out I also remember when I was getting comformed 2 times and I it was my grandpa, a family friend and the Bishop at the time gave me the blessing. I knew that the spirit was there so strong. After my bapttism everyone was comming up to me and experessing love and everyone being so happy for me. I loved having the chance to get baptized and being an offical member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost is such a constant reminder to me to listen for that warning of when something is bad or if scarry. I have had many experiences where the Holy Ghost has helped me. For example I had to not talk to someone in my family and I was so hurt by this and just so frustrated and I had to stop and listen to the still small voice to tell me that it was gonna be ok and that I just needed to go on and continue to live my life and to make me a better person. I have had another ecperience where my best friend and finance moved and one moved to Longmont and the other to New Mexico. It was so hard fot me because I felt like my whole world was comming apart. At first I did not want to listen to the Holy Ghost because I was so upset but after awhile I was able to calmb down and take a deep breth and listen. By listening the Holy Ghost told me that everything was gonna be ok and I would still have contact with them. Its such a blessing to have the Holy Ghost to guide you at all times and be a comfort in my life.

How has attending Church services helped you?

Attending Church is so amazing. Each week we get to renew our covenants with our Heavenly Father. I know that the spirit is there so strongly and loving our ward families and teachers. We here great lessons that uplift us and we strive to do better each week. I love reading more about the lessons and having the Spirit wiht me as I do so. I love especially testimony meeting, it brings a sence of calmness and pece. Being able to share my testimony is amazing to me because I have so much of a love for my Heavenly Father. Being able to walk into church and see everyone and even those who are not members and they walk in is another great oppturnity to share the gospel while I am in church. I love to be able to read from the scriptures each week and apply what I learn in my life. Helps me to be a better person and to share the gospel more.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

I think that in the begnining we are taught to make good choices and I think thats a thing that stickes with us as we grow up. I also think that if we keep making good choices then satan will not tempt us and we have tthe power to say no I am making good choices and thats what I am gonna do. I know for a fact that making those choices we can receive more blessings and also have the Spirit with us as a cinsitant reminder then we will keep doing good.

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

I have had so many prayers answered and it is amazing because it brings such a testimony builder. A recent experience that I had was in a fast and testimony meeting I remember durring the sacrament that I had a prayer in my heart that everything was going to be okay with moving and durring my testimony I had that answer come to me and I knew that the spirit was there so strong. More then words can say it is so amazing how our prayers are answered. All I can say is its AMAZING

How I live my faith

Living by Faith is such an amazing feeling, i know my savior lives and blesse's me. With faith i have the power to go out and accomplish things and being confident. With Faith I know comes blessings that are huge. Like the song" Faith is like a little seed if planted it will grow."

Why is family so important to Mormons?

As mormon families we know that being sealed together that we will one day see one another again. Also being around families is so wonderful. As it says in the proclamation that the family is central to God's plan for his children.It is also the central unit of society and the means for bringing children into the world where they can be loved, provided for, and taught truth and righteousness. We also know that if we have love at home we will be able to get through anything that comes our way. I love my family so much and I know that I will be able to pass on things that I have learned to the next generations and after.

Because family is so important to God. Why do you think God intoduces Christ as His "only begotten SON in whom I am well pleased" and not something more formal like my servant, the Christ? Why in the scriptures is God referred to as "The Father" more than any other title? why is it that naturally we come into this life into a family, whether functional or not? Families are ordained of God. Agency and human nature is what may cause us to believe other wise.
Family ought to be our foundation of education in this life. I've moved around a lot. I've attended many different schools and one thing I've learned is that it is hard to focus on my goals if I don't have a social network providing acceptance and unity. A support group I can lean on and be there to be leaned on at school. It's a miracle that God has provided that support group for the important lessons in life.
If our families aren't what they could be, we can choose individually to be an example and a friend to them as far as possible. practice the principles of repentence and forgiveness. Understanding that our families are meant to be eternal helps us to not allow the small things to obstruct our relationships.

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is the organization in the Church where women come together to strengthen, serve, and teach each other. It's Motto is "Charity Never Faileth" which women of the Church live by to bring relief to the weary and down trodden. Women meet as a Relief Society each week to learn about the Gospel and grow closer to Jesus Christ. Women are asked to serve in many capacities within the Relief Society and give of their time and talents. There are also activities where women share skills and do service for those in their community as well as victims of disasters around the world.
