Munro: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Munro

I am a sponsored athlete, a business owner and a proud father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have three wonderful children. I have an undergraduate degree in International Business and am currently enrolled in a weekend MBA program. I operate a family-owned vacation rental management company. We manage various vacation rentals in Hawaii, Utah and Montana. I enjoy a variety of activities, sports and hobbies, including reading, writing, movies, soccer, yoga, running, weight training, SCUBA diving, skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, hiking, camping, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling and boating.

In 2010 and 2011 I had the privilege of being an Ambassador for Snickers Marathon Bar and competing in several running events. Other activities I would like to experience in the future include snow kiting, kite surfing, triathlons, marathons, long-distance running events, world travel and international humanitarian service projects.

Life truly offers us limitless opportunities and I believe that God wants us to do our best to strive to take advantage of those opportunities that He places before us. I also believe that there is much that we can learn through trial and adversity. One of my older brothers died unexpectedly just weeks before I was to be married. My wife is a cancer survivor and recently celebrated five years of being cancer-free. Passing through these difficult experiences provided me with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of life and death and the eternal nature of families.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. The principles and doctrines I learn through my study of the scriptures and Church material help me to be a better husband a better father a better person. We live in a time where access to information and data has never been easier, yet it also seems that there is more confusion and doubt than ever before as well. My faith has helped me to become grounded in everlasting truths that never change, regardless of what else may be happening in the world. This brings me peace, comfort, focus and calming assurance that helps me get through the hard times. I believe whole-heartedly in everything taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have experienced first hand the love of our Savior and His willingness to bless us and help us in our time of need. His atonement is real and as applicable today as much as it was in the time it transpired. The scriptures teach us that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. I know that is true and I am grateful to be a part of a faith that follows the teachings and principles of Christ as they have been revealed throughout the ages through God's prophets. Most importantly, I am a Mormon because I have knelt in prayer, earnestly seeking to understand and know the truths of God and His will for me. I have felt His answer and the power of His love and I know that He cares for and is mindful of all of his children. I take great comfort and inspiration in the verse of scripture in which the Lord says, "Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you seek me diligently and ye shall find me ask and ye shall receive, knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

How I live my faith

One of the great benefits of being an active member of the LDS Church is having the opportunity to serve in a variety service capacities. Since the Church functions on lay leadership and clergy in all of the local congregations, known as "wards", every active member is expected to do what they can to help everything function smoothly. Specific assignments, or "callings", are extended to members, in which they may serve for a few short months or as long as several years. Over the years I have been involved in a number of different service positions in the Church. I am an Eagle Scout and have been able to give back to the scouting organization by working with young men between the ages of 8 and 17 and helping them to advance through the ranks and progress towards the rank of Eagle. I have led men's groups in classroom lessons, activities and special community service projects. I spent two years living in New Jersey as a volunteer Church missionary and was able to share my testimony of Jesus Christ with many people. I played the piano for some Church services. I have been a class instructor. I have been involved in the financial aspects of counting charitable contributions and insuring they are deposited in the appropriate Church accounts for distribution to the needy and to be used for constructing Churches and Temples. I worked in one of our temples to assist the temple visitors with the various ordinances that take place there. I have been on an activities committee responsible for planning and hosting large social events on holidays and other special occasions for Church members to gather, get to know one another better and to enjoy each others company. Overall, the opportunities given me to serve in the Church have made a huge difference in helping me to become who I am today. It is a humbling privilege to serve others and to be mindful of the way in which God often meets our needs through the helping hands of family, friends or even strangers.
