Hi, I'm Janene
I am originally from California. I lived in Italy, graduated from BYU, worked but now volunteer, and love raising 2 boys.
About Me
I just turned 30 and feel like I have lived a life thus far filled with some of the greatest highs and lows one feels in life. I am grateful for challenges and trials because of the person I have been molded into from them. I love being married and raising children, Clay 4 and Collin 1&1/2. I was able to serve a mission in Italy for the church. I grew to love people of different culture and language. I was able to complete a Bachelor's degree soon after I was married. I had the opportunity to get a taste of the big business world but am grateful to be a stay at home mom with time to volunteer and pursue hobbies.
I love to run. I have run 3 full marathons, 26.2 miles, and will be running another in May 2012. I am not a woman of many talents but I have learned to love to learn so I read a lot and am teaching myself piano. I am one of 7 children so I spent most of my extra time as a youth helping around the house and with the younger brothers. I am grateful for the things I learned having to grow up a little faster than my peers but am very grateful for a chance to explore more of my personal interests.
Why I am a Mormon
Why can life be so good and than seem so hard? What are all my efforts really for? I know that my answers are found through the scriptures and modern teachings of prophets in the restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was born to parents who were active members of the church. I am grateful for their influence and example of living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although I have a firm conviction of the reality of our Savior and His role in the the Church because of repentance and having burdens lifted from my shoulders. Without going into detail of my burdens and sins I can tell you that whatever they were or will be they are lifted through first listening to His words, following, and confessing and promising Him my will to change. The love I feel in my heart definitely surpasses any other remedy or superficial source. I find that my sorrowful and disturbing thoughts and feelings are washed away. These experiences always testify that what I put into practice as taught by the church and Jesus' living disciples is true. I then have been able to feel and understand how true and real all the other principals of the great plan of salvation or happiness are. I know the Church is true. I know that you can have the wonderful blessings from listening, following, and allowing the workings of Jesus Christ into your life.

Now that I have 2 small boys I see how in-tuned children are to spiritual matters. Children are humble and are more familiar with the soft tone of truth. Joseph Smith at a young age had been seeking for the soft confirmation of how to make an important decision in his life of what church he should affiliate with. He was interested in joining with full heart so he wanted to make the correct choice. He was only 14 when he received not only an answer but was appeared to by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was told to not join any of the churches because none were lead by Jesus. Joseph Smith at that point and on was a witness of the divinity of Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God like many prophets of old. He too was one of many prophets to be a martyr for the sake of Christ's name and church. Reading in the Bible affirms that the uniqueness of Joseph Smith's experiences with God, Jesus, and prophets of old are common. Heavenly Father has guided his children on earth through a prophet. Christ called disciples while he was on the earth. He established his organization and this was written upon scriptures to be preserved and remembered. I know that Jesus called Joseph Smith in a time when people, although not all, would accept His pure and simple teachings. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to earth again and it is how Christ has and will lead His people.
How I live my faith
I know that the best thing that I can do, not because it comes naturally, is to love. I first have to love myself, which is achieved by thinking positively about me and my surroundings but especially to pray for love. This love then can be transferred to others by words and actions. Even the simplest of things as a smile, if filled with love, can change someone's day. So even though I spend most of my time at home, being the number one way to influence life for the good, I still have opportunities while at the grocery store or at the library to make a difference.
I have enjoyed volunteering with the Safe Kids Utah County coalition. I maintain my Child Passenger Safety Technician certification and am able to check car seats and educate parents on proper child restraint in vehicles. This is how I can serve my community now and I try to be an example of happiness and loving our children as I serve on the committee chair and at various events.
There is a sweet gal who I check in on who is a single mother of 2. She always has a smile on her face but yet still needs friendship and an opportunity to feel of the Savior's love for her. She does not currently attend church and so I feel that my friendship can be an example of how the Savior is concerned for her.

Joseph Smith
As is the case throughout history God has communicated to His children through prophets. God used a humble man as a prophet to restore His Church on earth who ultimately died defending His faith.
