Melody: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Melody

I love life.

About Me

I am a happily married mother of six. I enjoy reading, sewing, baking, participating the SoCal Ragnar!!!, biking, working with my animals dogs and goats and spending time at the park with my kids. I live in a small town and enjoy volunteering my time to my kids' teachers.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I've always known it's true. Although I was baptized at the age of eight, I wasn't converted until I was 19. The gospel is a way of life, not so much an "organized religion" for me. Not only do I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel, but the gospel teaches me how to be a better, more sympathetic, understanding and contributing human being. I LOVE IT! Learning how to truly be Christlike is truly a lifelong process.

Personal Stories

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

President Monson has said that it is easier to live the gospel 100 percent of the time rather than 97 percent of the time. I know that to be true. If you live it always, people know it. Your true friends know it and won't tempt you do live otherwise. They build you up, love you and respect you, no matter what faith they are. When we have the conviction to live it always, there's no temptation that cannot be overcome with the help of the Lord.

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

Nothing dramatic has ever happened to me regarding the Book of Mormon and how it has changed my life. What I can say is that by studying it regularly, I read often about the love my Heavenly Father has for me, the plan that Christ fulfilled and the opportunity I have to live with them again, should I choose to live worthy of that blessing. I know who I am and where I want to go. I simply need to make the choices that will get me there.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

While growing up, I had no "visible" talents: no piano, painting, singing (you know what I mean). However, people would tell me that I was a good listener. As I've matured, I've tried to take that "good listening" compliment and truly "listen," not just hear. As a child, I would hear, as an adult I try to listen without interrupting so that I can listen to not only them, but to the Spirit so if they ask for advice or help, I can give the best advice possible.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by speaking kindly to my family, serving the sisters in my ward, whom I adore!, volunteering in my kids' classrooms and trying to include others. I love to look into people's eyes, smile, laugh and think postive. Life might throw some curve balls, but they help us grow closer to the Savior.
