I love music! I'm a violin major and I also love to play the piano. I was homeschooled until I went to college. I have crohn's disease, but that doesn't stop me from doing anything God would have me do. I love American Sign Language and Deaf culture in general. I like to try new things. I'm a reader and a thinker. I strive to help and inspire others to overcome obstacles and become the best they can be.
I'm a mormon because of Jesus Christ. I have loved growing up mormon my whole life. My parents taught me from a young age to pray to my Heavenly Father and to rely on Jesus Christ in good times and bad. They taught me to read and study the scriptures and to love attending church. As a little boy, I prayed to God to know if he lived. When I prayed, the idea made sense to me, and I felt good about it, so that was good enough for my little mind. As I got older, I came to know for myself that This is God's church on earth today. I discovered this by praying to know if God lived and also if the Book of Mormon was true. I feel God's love when I read that book. I know it is true. God gave the prophet Joseph Smith power to translate it. It testifies that Jesus is the Christ and that there is no other way to return to our Father in Heaven except by Jesus Christ. The savior established His church here on earth about 2000 years ago. The Latter-day Saint church is His gospel restored once again on earth today. I love my savior, Jesus Christ. I will follow His example. Though it is challenging to live His gospel, it is well worth it. God blesses us for every good thing we do. His Gospel is to have faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, repent, be baptized, receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and to continue to live as the Savior would want you to live. I know from experience that as we live the Savior's gospel, we will have greater joy and satisfaction in this life. I also know that because the savior died for us, if we live His gospel, we will live with God after we die.
The Book of Mormon teaches me about God and Jesus Christ. It teaches me what they want me to do. As I apply the principles taught, I am happy. I feel God's love when I read it. I love God more and more as I study it. It reminds me why I have great reasons to be happy and have hope. At a time of great distress I uttered the most sincere prayer of my life to that point. I prayed seeking guidance. Some say when you want to talk to God you pray and when you want Him to talk to you, you read the scriptures. So after that prayer I turned to the Book of Mormon. I read in the Book of Alma, Chapter 34. It speaks of Jesus Christ and His atonement. The atonement is that the savior suffered and died for us and now He lives again. He felt every pain, every sickness, every feeling of guilt, every kind of suffering that we have ever felt. He felt this pain for every single person who ever has lived, now lives, and will live. Because of this, He is able to comfort us and give us aid regardless of the hardship we face. He understands exactly what we are going through--He felt it Himself. I felt great comfort from my Savior at that time. Reading this chapter helped me to remember that God has a plan for us. I don't always know why things happen the way they do, but the Savior is here for us and because of that, we have hope.
I currently serve as a full time missionary for the church. I invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel. For two years I will do my best to be a representative of Jesus Christ by doing the things He would do. I will serve others, teach them His gospel, and show love to everyone. I rejoice with all those who know the blessings of living the gospel and invite everyone to feel of this joy also.
