Hi, I'm Jerry

I grew up in Ohio and joined the church at 24 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a draftsman by trade. I have been playing music all my life. Several years ago I began teaching private piano and drums lessons full time. It gives me so much satisfaction when students begin to excel and learn what I have learned. I have a large yard with a landscaped wooded area. It is my own little "Garden of Eden." It gives me great pleasure to work and/or relax in the yard.

Why I am a Mormon

Some very close friends joined the church and introduce my family. We embrassed the Gospel in a very short time and have continued to learn and grow within the church. Being a Mormon gives me direction and a belief. My faith has increased over the years. The teaching of the Prophets and the priesthood have made a difference in my life. Reading the Book of Mormon has answered many question I have had over the years.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

Sunday has become my favorite day of the week. I look forward to going to church and learning from the lessons that are taught. Sometimes they are in talks or classes while other times they are in a conversation with a good friend. The association with other members of the church and sometimes visitors, help me realize how important Jesus Christ is in my life.

How I live my faith

I serve on the Stake High Council and participate every Sunday in our meetings. Once a month I give a talk in church on various topics including the Atonement, Prophets, covenants, faith and prayer. I am assigned to several families that I visit once a month. I bring them a special message and encourage them in their personal lives. By studying the scriptures and General Conference talks, it increases my faith and belief in Jesus Christ.

Thomas S. Monson is the current prophet. He was called as an Apostle October 10, 1963. He was sustained as the 16th Prophet January 2008, after the death of Gordon B. Hinckley.

What is being a Mormon like?

I think of it as my life style not just my religion. The church is set up to support you and nurture your spiritual growth. That growth comes from involvement with church activities and supporting others. We look out for each other, not just physically but spiritually as well.
