Darin: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Darin

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Payson, Utah, but call Pullman, Washington home.

About Me

I am a happily married father of 4 daughters. I am currently employed at Pullman Regional Hospital, in Pullman Washington as a radiology director and Radiology Physician Assistant. I love living in the Nortwest and all the outdoor activities that abound here. I love running!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are Mormon and I was raised within the LDS church. I reached a point as a teenager, however, that I wanted to know more about God and about Jesus Christ. I read several passages from the Book of Mormon and began to pray and ask Heavenly Father if it was, in fact, true. This was during a particularly difficult time in my life. I received a very unique and definitive answer that the Mormon Church was God's true chuch and that he had re-established it again on the earth.

Personal Stories

Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?

After finishing radiology school, I had difficulty finding full-time employment. This was mostly due to the fact that there were many new graduates in the area. We had joked about going to a job that was available in Fairbanks, Alaska. After many days, my wife and I were praying one night, and she looked up at me and said, "I think that we need to go to Alaska." I was surprised, but even more surprised when I asked her about it the following morning. My wife could not remember saying anything to me about Alaska. We knew that God had truly answered our prayers and given us direction.

We packed everything that we could into a small trailer and me, my wife, and our oldest daughter (then about 2 years old) made the 4-day journey to Fairbanks. It was not very pretty when we had arrived. We soon found out that it was just after what the Alaskans call "break-up"; this is when all of the ice is mostly gone and dirt and trash is left behind. Had we not had such a powerful answer to our personal prayer for help, then we may not have ever moved. We had a wonderful 2 years in Alaska and it set the stage for what has now been nearly twenty years of a wonderful marriage and partnership.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a Bishop in the church. I served as a missionary for the church in the Budapest, Hungary Mission. I served there from 1990-1991. I thoroughly enjoy the ways that living as a Mormon has blessed my life and brought great peace and harmony to our home. My wife, Jana, is pretty much everything to me. I enjoy the way that the church has helped me to be a better man and treat her with love and respect. I have also found the teachings of the Savior helpful in my relationships with my 4 girls and my co-workers. I am very grateful for all that God has given me.
