I'm a wife and a mother of four wonderful girls living in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a loving LDS home with a mother and a father. I have four brothers and two sisters. When I was nine years old my sister died from heart problems. She was only 6 months old. I remember wondering which was worse....having a baby sister die or watching my mother suffer from the loss of her child. As I got older and started preparing for college I had a hard time trying to find a career path that was right for me. I felt I wasn't very good at much and nothing seemed to interest me. There was one thing I knew I wanted more than anything, and that was to be a stay at home mom. I am now the mother of four beautiful girls and married to an amazing man who helps me live my dreams! I feel that my life is complete. Now all I want is to raise my children in the gospel, help them to make good choices and teach them how to contribute positively in today's society.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because that was all I knew. But today I am a mormon because I know for myself that this church is true. All my life I have had a desire to be good and do what was right. I knew that these feeling and desires were a gift from my Heavenly Father to bless me. After I read the Book of Mormon my testimony in Jesus Christ grew. And overtime as I would attend my church meetings, pray often and go to the temple, my testimony would get stronger and stronger. I KNOW that this is the only true church on earth today. And I KNOW that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives. I KNOW that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that President Monson is the true prophet today. I KNOW this.... and I cannot deny it! And I know this because the Holy Ghost has testified it to me over and over again.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

When I was younger I relied a lot on my parents testimony and the testimonies of my church teachers and leaders. As I got older I began to have my own feelings and experiences that made me feel loved and at peace with being a member of this church. When you start to recognize these feelings within your heart, it becomes hard to ignore them and you then have a stronger desire to learn more and share what you know with others. I have a hard time expressing my testimony with words, I feel like it doesn't compare to the love I have in my heart for what I know. But I love to learn of my Savior, Jesus Christ and what He has done for me and you, so that we may return to our Heavenly Father. And it all began from attending my church services....regularly!

How I live my faith

Today I help in my ward with girls ages 8-11. We have activities in my home twice a month that teaches them how to live the gospel and build friendships. I love what I do and to see these girls so eager and willing to learn and try knew skills. It's also fun because I have 2 of my own girls in the program.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Part of our purpose here on earth is to form eternal families. A husband and his wife possess the God-given abilities to procreate. Together they are two halves of a whole. Each possess gifts and abilities necessary to the creating and rearing of children. God has ordained it such, and any lifestyle that inhibits the progression towards forming eternal families is not in accord with God's plan and purpose for life. "Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 11:11)

This issue is one that is rife with misunderstanding to outsiders. First, let me say here that we love and accept all of God's children, regardless of beliefs. That being said, we affirm that the central purpose of life is to make and keep covenants in a family relationship. By extension that means bringing children into the world, born in loving families with both a father and a mother.

We believe that our genders are an essential aspect of our eternal identities, that we were male and female even before we came to this earth. Neither sex is more important than the other; both serve the purpose of God to save His children. Both priesthood and motherhood are essential in the rearing of children.

I myself am unspeakably grateful for the blessing of having both a loving father and mother. They each supported me in different ways, unique to their identity as a man and a woman.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

I served a mission in South Korea for two years, so I can tell you. :) The missionaries will probably be as nervous as you are as they arrive at your home. The nervousness does not come from timidity or a lack of belief in the message they bring, but because they want so much to express their testimonies and the Spirit they feel to you.

The missionaries will likely introduce themselves and get to know you and your family. Though missionaries are called by God to preach His word, they come from largely every-day backgrounds and have lives likely much like yours.

After getting to know your family, they will likely ask what questions you may have about life or the Mormon church. Using the scriptures and their own personal experiences, they will seek to help you find answers. Don't be afraid of asking any question or thinking you may offend or sound silly to the missionaries. They are called to help and serve and are very understanding.

After answering your questions and sharing a spiritual message, the missionaries will ask you to act on the message. A soccer player does not listen to his coach during practice only to go home without kicking a ball, right? In the same way, the missionaries will invite you to read a chapter of scripture or seek for yourself that what they are saying is true. You don't have to just take the missionaries' word in what they say--a loving God is happy to answer thoughtful, earnest prayers seeking for the truth.
