Paula: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Paula

I was born and raised in the United States. I am a wife, mother and grandmother but most of all, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife of almost 24 years a mother of 5, three of whom are married and I have 4 grandchildren with 1 due in June. My youngest is a senior this year and plans on going to college. I have been an over the road truck driver running team with my husband and seeing the United States. My husband and I love going to the temple and serving in the church. I enjoy doing family history and finding relatives unknown to me. I am a member of a local quilt guild and enjoy making warm, beautiful quilts. I have just started using a long arm quilt machine and enjoy "playing" with designs and quilting for others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a family who were already members of the church. I was taught and raised to know that I have a Father in Heaven and that his son Jesus Christ was born to take upon himself the sins of the world so we could return once again to be with them. I know that the gospel is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that it is to be used with the Bible, not instead of. I know we were given agency so we could choose for ourselves the path we would follow. Heavenly Father is there waiting for us to talk to him and ask for guidance, all we need to do is open the door or the communication through prayer. My testimony is very important to me. I know that this life is just the beginning and that if I do all I can to become more like Christ, I will be able to live with Him once again. I also have a testimony of the temple. I know that families can be together forever thanks to the sealing power of the priesthood that can be obtained by being worthy to enter the temple.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

We believe that families can and are sealed together forever in the Temples of the Lord. We want to spend eternity with all of our family members, not just the ones who were baptized members of the church in their lifetimes. We do family history or genealogy to search out family membes who may have not had the opportunity to come unto Christ or to learn of him in their lifetimes here. We do not want to leave any family member unknown or unlocated. We want others to have this opportunity too which is why we also do work for people who are not direct relatives of our own families.

How has attending Church services helped you?

I was rased a member of the church. At the age of 8, I was baptised and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I attened seminary as a youth. I helped in the conversion of my husband in 1987 and was married in our church meeting house. I was raised that I was to be in church each Sunday. I did not realize how important these meeting were to me until I started driving truch with my husband in 1988. I was unable to attend meetings regularlly for the next several years. I told myself that as long as I was reading my scriptures and living a righteous life that it was ok not to go to church every week. I learned that I was mistaken. I also learned that the gospel is true and that the members who attend church every week help my knowledge of this grow. Just like a glass needs refilled to keep us hydrated, we need the spiritual fill up, if you will, that we can only gain from meeting together regularly. The messages we learn there help us in our daily lives at home, work, or wherever we go. We need the constant uplift from our leaders and friends we find at Church.

How I live my faith

I have held many callings in the church through my life. I have worked with the youth, younger Primary aged children and have served as the Librarian. I am currently a Visiting Teacher. This is an important calling. I have an assigned woman partner and we go each month to visit 3 wonderful women who have different challenges and lifes. We share with them a message and check to see if they have any needs we can help them with. I am also in charge of the Ward Newsletter and Calendar which I design and send out each month. My husband and I travel 5 hours one way to the temple at least one time a month to spend time serving there.
