Travis Canova: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Travis Canova

I'm a medical student and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in California and since then I have lived in Iowa, Utah, and now Arizona. I am going to medical school and loving every minute of it...well, except for the tests at 7 A.M. every Monday, but I deal with that (haha). I love to learn so it has been a fascinating experience. Besides studying I do try to have some fun in life! I absolutely love sports, playing them and watching them. You name it and I play it. I served an LDS Mission in Monterrey Mexico. You know, those guys walking around in white shirts and ties! You have all seen them. Me encantó! I loved it! I have two wonderful parents, one older brother, and five beautiful little sisters. Not to mention my eight nieces and two nephews, I love my family with all of my heart and don't know what I would do or be without them. They are a great support in my life. I am excited to know that I can live with them FOREVER if I continue to keep the commandments of God. God has a plan for each of us. We are His children and he loves us. He wants us ALL to return to His presence. Jesus Christ has provided the way back home and if we follow Him we can be forgiven of our sins and overcome our imperfections. We simply have to choose what we want, then live what we know. Easy as that. We choose if we want to obey or disobey. Its black or white, good or evil, there is no middle ground when it comes to the things of God. No one can make that decision for us. As we come unto Christ through obedience he will bless us beyond measure!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God has called a prophet again in these times! How amazing is that? As has been His pattern for the entire history of the Earth, God calls prophets like Adam, Noah, Moses, and Abraham to teach His children because He loves them and wants them to return to His presence someday. Authorized prophets of God teach us by word and deed how we must live and what we must know in order to return to Him. They teach us of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Despite our imperfections, if we come unto Christ in the way that He has commanded-through faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end-we can be cleansed, spotless before God. I know that in 1820 God called Joseph Smith to be His prophet, to be our prophet. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is the fruit that God has given to show us that Joseph was indeed called of God. It is true and it will change your life in a miraculous way, for the better, as you apply its Christ-centered teachings into your everyday life. Best advice ever = Pick it up and read it! I have done it and have seen a constant stream of blessings in my life and the life of my family. Today the prophet of God is Thomas S. Monson. He is God's authorized earthly messenger. I have prayed and asked and the Holy Ghost has confirmed to me that these things are true. That is the key! You don't have to believe me, you don't have to believe your friends or your enemies, you don't have to believe any man on Earth. God wants us to ask Him if these things are true. He, our Father, will send an answer through the Holy Ghost, it is a still small voice which will pierce our very souls. That answer of peace, happiness, and conviction that guides you to the truth will be an anchor to your soul throughout your life! I invite you to sincerely pray and ask God if these things are true. Then pay close attention to your thoughts and feelings and you will receive YOUR OWN heavenly witness! Then act.

How I live my faith

One hour at a time! You can't merely be good day by day, you must strive to be good hour by hour. Decisions determine destiny.
