About Me

I was born in the West, lived in the Mid-West, and grew up in the North East. I go to college everyday...but that is because I work there! I work in Educational Finance. I love to read, travel, and play games with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the church, but it was not until I was married and wanting a family of my own that I understood my own testimony. My husband and I decided that it was our faith in the Lord that had brought us together and it was through that faith and belief that we would be able to have our own Family and be Eternally Together Forever. The gospel has been restored to this earth and it was through my parents faith that I was taught to know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer but it was when my own Daughter was born that I truly understood the importance the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

Each week I plan lessons centered on the Life of Jesus Christ and his teachings. I teach these lessons to the 5-6 year olds of my church. The blessings that come from teaching are so great that each week I learn more then I feel I could ever teach to such young impressionable and knowledgeable children.

What is the First Vision?

The First Vision is when 14 year old Joseph Smith sought to know which of the churches on the earth in 1820 were the true church of God. He was very conflicted about which church to join as they all condemned one another. When reading the family Bible he came to James 15-6 'If you any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing waivering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.' He took this passage to heart and early one morning went into the grove along the families farm and knelt in prayer. As he knelt in pray a darkness fell upon him and caused him great strife. As he struggle to pray to God for guidance a bright light settled directly about him, in which were two personages, God, the Eternal Father, and his son Jesus Christ. The first personage spoke to him calling him by name and gesturing to the other said,'This is my beloved son, hear him.' Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to Joseph and told him that none of the churches were Gods church and that he should join none. That when the time came to restore the One and true church to the earth he would know.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

I have many homosexual friends, and I have best friends who are gay rights activists. They know my stand on same-sex marriage, and I know theirs, but guess what? We are still friends. I hope you and I can be friends too, as I try to explain a portion of what I feel about the issue of same-sex marriage.

According to principles that I believe were established by God to protect both men and women and provide for their temporal and eternal welfare, only marriage between a man and woman is allowed. This marriage must entail complete fidelity from both parties. Just as post-marital sexual desires and impulses should be controlled, pre-marital ones are equally tameable.

The LDS Church penalizes no one based on their sexual orientation. What someone feels is not equal to what they do. Once someone acts on same-sex attraction, they are committing sin. Merely being attracted is not a sin. It is not easy or simple or enjoyable to suppress one's physical appetites. Frankly, I'm not even sure of all the reasons it is commanded that we do so (though I know of the basic reasons). What I do know (and believe me when I say I do know this) is that God has ordained marriage between man and woman. He always has reasons, and we usually don't understand them for quite some time. But I know with all my heart that it is for the good of all people, regardless of sexual orientation, that marriage only be permited between a man and a woman.
