Wife and mother of 4 children. I'm a SAHM, stay-at-home-mother, who loves being involved in my community. On the side, I like scrap booking, blogging, photography, traveling,organizing, 4 wheeling, and I love being in the company of good people.

Why I am a Mormon

...... because the plan of 'Kara' didn't work for me. I realized in my mid-twenties that there was a plan for me much bigger than I could imagine. While it took some time to discover my Savior's love for me, as soon as I felt it I knew it's validity. I have never doubted it since.

Personal Stories

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

In clear and concise language, it presents God's plan for us and helps me understand how to make better choices. It is a standard in which I can measure my own life, and continue to improve my decisions to nurture and support those around me.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the Savior's example and do what would be pleasing to my Father in Heaven. More specifically I try to honor the covenants that I have made by attending church, fulfilling callings, serving my fellow saints and serving in my community. I strive to be an asset to society and support those around me.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes, we are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our practices revolve around our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Living in a place where Mormons are a small minority, this is probably the question I get asked the most. For me, nothing is more sacred and personal than my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I believe he was born of Mary and is the Son of God. I believe he suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and died on the cross on Calvary so that all of us might be saved by the gift of His atonement. I believe he was resurrected three days later and that he will come again. I absolutely whole-heartedly believe in and love Jesus and am teaching my children to do the same.

Generally though, I've found that when people ask me this question more often they are asking what makes Mormons different from other Christians. There are 3 major differences: 1) We believe that God, the father, Jesus, his son and the Holy Ghost are distinct beings (the first two having a body of flesh and blood, the third being a spirit) that are united in purpose. So, we don't believe in the concept of the "Trinity." 2) We believe in an open cannon, meaning that God still reveals scripture. We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God but we have companion scriptures as well that we believe are holy and inspired, most notably "The Book of Mormon." It is another testament of Jesus Christ, in addition to the Bible. 3)We believe that God still talks to man. Revelation didn't stop with the prophets in the Bible. When Christ's church was restored through Joseph Smith, prophets once again returned to the earth. We having a living prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson, to whom God speaks. In addition, we believe in personal revelation. Rather than telling people they must follow unquestioningly like sheep, Mormons are encouraged to ask God themselves about doctrine, actions and anything else they are concerned about. He answers prayers.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Before I was baptized, a missionary told me that I could read the Book of Mormon and find out for myself if it was true. I liked that idea. I've always been a person who wanted to know the truth for myself. After the missionary had suggested I read it, I decided to try. It was a big step of faith to pick up a book and read it without knowing for sure. Over time, I developed a testimony that the Book of Mormon is true.

The same goes for knowing if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Church of Christ once again established on this earth. A simple prayer to your Heavenly Father can open so many doors of truth.

The real way that I know it is true is how it has helped my life. Without the Church, I'd be lost. I am grateful for it, and for the knowledge I have that it is true.
