Hi, I'm Teresa
I am a Latter Day Saint I am a convert to the church. I was born in Bolivia.
About Me
I am a school teacher. I have two children, and six grandchildren. I am a proud grandma of a young man serving his mission. My hobbies are cooking, dancing, gardening, walking, music, reading, and traveling. I love outdoors..
Why I am a Mormon
I am convert to the church since1974. There is some uniqueness about my conversion. The missionaries did not come to my door I went to them. One day coming back from the street market I approached two young man that had some distinctness. They were wearing white shirts and dark pants. I asked them if they knew anything about Mormons. Their answered "we are Mormons". I invited them to come to my house that night when the whole family would be home. I wanted to know what their religion was about. I did not know much about Mormons, however, I had a neighbor who was a Mormon. She and her family were different from the rest of the people around us such us every Sunday I saw them leaving their home dressed as they were going to a very special gathering. I did not know at that time they were going to church. They were very kind, always helping the neighbors, soft spoken, and their house always looked nice. What I learned later is that there was no drinking in their home. This got my attention I did not want to raise my children embracing some of the traditions in my country. Drinking is part of every celebration occurrence.
I do believe from the bottom of my heart with out the missionaries my life would not be what it is now. Having the gospel gave me the strength to overcome the challenges and sorrows that I have experience throughout my life. Recently I lost my son. My religion gives me the assurance that my Father in Heaven loves me and forgives my trespasses daily. He answers my prayers and gives me the comfort that one day I will be reunited with my beloved son. I do owe my happiness and my knowledge of the truth gospel to the two young missionaries that changed my life for the good.
Personal Stories
What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?
Through my faith in my Savior I have the blessing of his love and mercy. He gives me the strength to continue a productive life after the lost of my son.
Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?
As a part of my daily routine I do always pray. I do know that with out it I would not feel protected. What prayer does to me it gives me the assurance that my Father In Heaven watches over me and over my family as we do go on with our duties and responsibilities outside of our home.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
They are called to serve. Mormons go on missions to share with others their faith . They do leave the comfort of their homes at their own expenses to do the Lord's work. It takes a lot of faith and love for others to go to unknown places that they did not chose to go. Missionaries face a lot of challenges as they serve their missions such us unknown cultures, different languages and more over sometimes strong rejection. Only pure and genuine love for their fellow man and Jesus Christ would be the reason for them to serve a mission.
How I live my faith
Throughout my life as a Mormon I served in different callings. I worked with children, young women, and with the ladies learning how to become a better mother a better homemaker a better neighbor. One of the most rewarding callings is being a visiting teacher. This gives me the change to visit the women in my area to learn their needs, their concerns, to get closer to each other on the teachings of the gospel. Gives me also the opportunity to serve, by serving others we do gained many blessing in our daily lives.
