Rachel: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Rachel

I'm a daughter, a sister, and an aunt. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 24 and currently a student. I'm studying religious, political, women's, and American Studies. I love school. I also have many hobbies such as oil painting, drawing, reading classic's, researching, and traveling. And really anything about the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know what life is like without it. Like many others I know what it is like to be without God in my life. But the Lord had a different plan for me. He knew who I was personally and He knew what I needed to be truley happy. I know that the only true path to success and happiness in this life is through Jesus Christ and His Church that was restored in its fulness through a boy named Joseph Smith. I know that God lives and to me that knowledge is more valuable than any other thing on earth.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

We believe in a Plan of Happiness called the Plan of Salvation. This plan allows everyone the opportunity to return and be with God and be with their families forever. But in order to do that sacred ordinances must be preformed such as baptism, and “Jesus answered…Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”John 3 5 Genealogy provides us the way to find all of our family and perform these ordinances on their behalf. It also allows us to understand and appreciate their sacrifices for us. It is a beautiful and rewarding experience when you are able to do work for these individuals. I have a particular love for genealogy because I feel that it is one of the most sacred acts of service that a person can do for their deceased ancestors.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I have a deep love and appreciation for the Prophet Joseph Smith. People will say that he was just an ordinary man, or lie and claim that he himself was a liar. “And ye shall know them by their fruits...” But as I have studied more about this man I have found that he was no liar and certainly not ordinary. At an early age he demonstrated a deeper understanding or curiosity to know God for himself. And he lived accordingly. He sacrificed everything in defence of his God and the truth. I wish one day I can say I have done the same. I know with all of my heart that as a young boy of fourteen he knelt down in a grove a trees and saw God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. I know that he was the instrument in God’s hand to restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ once more to the earth. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. And I know that he was a Prophet of God. I will always hold a deep reverence and love for the Prophet Joseph Smith because his sacrifice has brought the gospel to me and my family.

How I live my faith

I have lived my faith by serving a mission to Manchester, England. And I continue to live my faith by serving as a genealogy teacher in my ward and working as an ordinance worker in one of God's temple's. I also serve my God by actively serving my community by upholding values and principles as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ.
