Lauren: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Lauren

I joined the church at 14. I'm happily married and am a mom of five. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young mom of five. I have three boys, 9, 8 and 3 and two girls, 5 and 6mos. I stay at home to take care of our family I enjoy running, blogging, photography, sewing, scrapbooking, and I have my own little business of making hair accessories for girls PrincessPrittys. I stay busy with taking my kids to their various activities and trying new recipes for dinner and making sure the house stays somewhat clean and organized by teaching the kids to do their part in the family by helping around the house. I love to shop and I love to watch The Young and the Restless...my husband and I love to watch American Idol, The Office, Parks and Rec, and 30 Rock. My kids and I also love Toddlers and Tiaras and my daughter is in pageants. My oldest boys are in Soccer and my kids are just getting into musical theatre plays. I am training right now to run a half marathon in September. My husband and I enjoy going on cruises and we just celebrated our 10 year anniversary.

Why I am a Mormon

Families are forever. This is what our church is all about. Family. It is the most important thing in the Gospel and everything is based around keeping your family together. Pray together. Play together. Go to Church together. Be sealed in the Temple together forever. The Gospel teaches us to pray and read the scriptures and to have a personal relationship with our Father in Heaven. This is what I want to teach my children and our church helps me do this.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Just the other day we were having some of that ‘looking for homework’ type issues at home. Things got a little tense you know where baby’s crying in the background as if we don’t have enough craziness just looking for the right book or whatever and in my head popped a thought I should use this time to teach the kids to use prayer during crazy moments like this. We all gathered together and had family prayer…I don’t recall any grand miracle after that but I do know that every time we pray together as a family we grow closer to our Heavenly Father and my children will find it a little easier to say a prayer and be more comfortable in talking with their Heavenly Father on their own.

How I live my faith

I am teaching my children to pray to their Father in Heaven as we have family prayer every morning and every day. We also start our day out by reading a few verses from the Book of Mormon. I feel that even though our kids don't complelty understand what we are reading, they get to feel the spirit each day before they begin their day in the world. We are taught it's like putting on a special Armor of God to face the temptations of the world. I also serve as a cubmaster in our Church's cub scout program. Our church supports the Boy Souts of America and knows what a wonderful program this is for our growing boys. It teaches them service to our community and service to our God. We also have a program in our church where young moms can get together every week itth our preschool age children for a singing/circle/and music time. This helps young moms feel a part of a mom's group and is a great way to meet moms in the area. There are many other groups within the church that you can join depending on interests such as book club, excercising, senior sisters luncheons, and craft groups. It is the best way to make new friends that can last forever! It's how I have met many of my closest adulthood friends.
