Sheila: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Sheila

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since I was four I have enjoyed music and dance. I was in ballet till I was 12, played the clarinet and eventually changed to the piano. In high school my likes turned to auto mechanics. I would have to say my favorite experience was tearing down an engine and rebuilding it and making it run on seven cylinders not smooth I might add but it ran. From there I joined the US Marine Corps and was assigned the job of a diesel mechanic. I loved what I did and I loved the people everywhere in the world that I had the honor of meeting. After leaving my beloved Corps I took on the responsiblity of being a mother and my life has certainly changed. It is the most challenging undertaking I have ever experienced. At times I do not feel adequate but I continue trying. I like self-improvement and taking anything I can and making it better as well as learning all I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight but I think I was truely converted after the age of twelve. At twelve I would go to the temple to do baptisms for the dead and I love the feeling I would feel inside the temple. I felt such peace, comfort and joy while in the temple. As I got older I had an experience that confirmed the truth of the gospel. I was having a difficult time feeling worthwhile. I was kneeling on my floor praying to Heavenly Father to help me feel that I was worth something. As soon as I ended my prayer the feelings that washed over me of peace, love and like a warm blanket being placed around my shoulders or a hug of assuarnce I knew that he answered my prayer. I will never forget that day and I knew from then on the gospel was true and that I must press on. It has been an unfailing anchor in my life which sometimes seems to go this way and that. Out of everything in my life the one thing I can count on is the gospel despite how I choose to live my life it is always there for me as is my Father in Heaven.

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.

I know without a doubt, with every fiber of my being that this Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. It was restored by Joseph Smith by the authority of God. I love the gospel! It is a true solid foundation for life and brings order and peace in any situation that can be thrown at us. It is never outdated and it will always be lead by a true living prophet who is called of God. There truely is no fear with the gospel and I know that Heavenly Father is ever watchful of everyone and this plan is beautiful and perfect that he has given us. I love that there is order in all things, accountability and choice. No other being could have possibly come up with something so perfect except a Supreme Being which is God our Heavenly Father who loves everyone no matter what. I would die for this gospel and could never deny its truth. I thank my Father every day for this gospel and for his wisdom and love in all things and can't wait for all to have it in their lives.

Prayer is and every moment of the day part of my life. If I didn't know about prayer which is the telephone call to my Heavenly Father I would be lost. I constantly pray in my heart for help and guidance. I can't live this life on my own. I know that my Father and Heaven and Jesus Christ know all and can help me to accomplish all that I desire that is righteous. I know that when I feel alone even in a crowded place or with my family that my Heavenly Father loves, cares and hears my prayers and pleadings. I know He knows my heart but He wants to hear me say it. He will not force me to come to Him but I know that I need him. I do faulter at times but He is always there with open arms and an ear. I know that He hears my prayers and answers them. I lost my cell phone and really wanted to find it. I know I could have given up and said oh well I can get another. I prayed and searched, even with my family and I know they prayed with me. It was found by my son that evening. It works and I challenge anyone to use it with real intent. I know that some prayers are not meant to be answered and that he has a purpose. So grateful for a wise and loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

My faith increases and changes all the time. At this point in my life I read and study the scriptures, pray to my Heavenly Father daily either for help or to say thanks or just say I love him. I go visiting teaching which consists of visiting, teaching, loving and watching out for sisters in my ward. I have been given the assignment of teaching the young women ages 14-15 or whatever I may be asked to do. I read and have family prayer with my family. If there is an opportunity to serve in the community I do it. I have been participating in the road cleanup and the crop walk the past few years. I try to set a good example to my children and those around me but I fail at times but then I can always repent and say I am sorry and try again. I constantly study the gospel so that I can learn to be more like Jesus Christ but at times it seems an insurrmountable task. When I succeed and oversome my weaknesses it feels so great and has endless blessings.
