Sandy: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Sandy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, & friend. I'm a college student and a returned missionary. I love arts & crafts, baking, scrapbooking, dancing, swimming, & making people happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know it teaches the truth. It teaches us the things we must do in this life in order to gain eternal happiness in the world to come. Although I've always believed that the teachings of this church are true, during my teenage years, my testimony wavered and it became difficult for me to live the way we are encouraged to live. I thought the "rules" were too strict for me. However, I realized that I was feeling more and more unhappy as my standards got lower. I decided it was time for a change and I earnestly sought for a testimony of this gospel. Through scripture study, prayer, and regular church attendance, my faith was strengthened. I gained a personal testimony of the gospel and a stronger relationship with my Savior. I no longer saw the church standards as rules, but rather guidelines and I began to follow them willingly. And as a result of all these things, I became truly happy. A few months after this experience, I gained a desire to share these truths with others so they too could feel the happiness that I feel. I was able to serve a full-time mission, teaching the gospel to the beautiful people in the Philippines. I am grateful for the happiness that the gospel brings to us as our Heavenly Father's children.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

On my mission, I taught a beautiful young lady named Jonas. She was my very favorite out of all the people we were teaching at that time. When we first started teaching Jonas, she was a little cold to us. We taught her about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, but she didn't seem very interested at first. After a few discussions with her, we found out that she was very ill. She had major heart problems and wasn't expected to live much longer. We immediately felt that we should teach her the Plan of Salvation. We told Jonas we wanted to teach her this plan that would explain to her where she came from, why she's here, and where she will go after this life. Her eyes lit up when we explained this beautiful plan to her and she told us that she believed it. After that discussion, we reviewed some of our previous lessons about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, and this time around, she was so interested and gained a testimony of the things we had taught her. Her countenance changed and she became a more positive, upbeat young lady. Soon after we taught her the Book of Mormon, Jonas passed away. I was so sad to see her go because she was my favorite and I loved her, but I felt so much peace in the situation. I'm grateful for this beautiful plan that our Heavenly Father created for us. It brings me so much peace and joy in this life. I know that as long as I'm obedient and faithful, I will someday return to be with Him and I can be happy for eternity.

How I live my faith

I enjoy participating in church activities and volunteering to visit people with the full-time missionaries in this area. I always try to be an example to those around me.
