Chat With a Mormon Online
I grew up in a little town in Texas. When I was 15, I moved with my family to the big city of Houston. I enjoy playing sports, especially football and basketball, and hanging out with friends. I go to college and am hoping to major in business. I am currently serving a two year mission in Boise, Idaho.
I was born into the church and was baptised at age 8. I was raised in the church and grew up going to youth activities, such as stake dances and campouts. Although I grew up with all of this, I had to make my own decision of whether or not I would continue faithfully in the church. This meant that I had to gain for myself a knowledge of its truthfullness. I had to gain my own testimony. Throughout my teenage years, I would read the Book of Mormon along with the Bible. I faithfully went to seminary, where I was able to read and study these scriptures for an hour every morning before school. I also prayed every day. I would often pray to know whether the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith really was called as a prophet of God. As I did these things, I steadily was able to gain my own testimony. As a result of my study and my praying, I have recieved a witness from the Holy Ghost that what I have always believed was indeed correct and true. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the word of God. I know that by reading and studying it, I have gotten closer to my Heavenly Father. I have come to know Him, as well as His Son, Jesus Christ, through the Book of Mormon. I know this to be true-because when i read and study it, I receive that necessary witness from the Holy Ghost, which teaches all things. I know that Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God and received the Book of Mormon just as he said he did. I know that I am a child of God, and that he loves me more than I can comprehend. I know that he sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Savior of all mankind, and that through Christ, we can all return to live in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
The youth of the Church are strongly encouared to serve missions. Most young men serve when they are 19 years old, and the young women serve when they are 21. When I turned 19, I left on my mission, where I currently am. The reason that I wanted to serve a mission is out of love for my Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. I realized that He has given me everything-my life, my family, simply sustaining me from day to day. Because of all of this, I had a strong desire to return the favor, or at least as much as I could possibly do. The best way for me to do that was by serving a mission.
I have been able to live my faith through a variety of callings thoughout my life. When I was 16 and 17, I served in a position where I was able to help plan activities and such for the guys my age. Currently, I am living my faith more than ever before as I am serving a full-time mission in Boise, Idaho. As a missionary, I live and breathe the gospel of Jesus Christ. My sole purpose in being a missionary is to invite others to come unto Christ through the restored gospel. I have absolutely loved my mission. It is such a great opportunity to be able to have no worries other than bringing people closer to Christ.
