Aaron: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Aaron

I love to read, play games, play sports, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Washington state in various little towns. I had lived in Washington for quite some time and ended up moving to Montana. It was tough being the new kid in school, and an introvert at that. However I found that I was able to do a lot of growing from that experience and am very glad that I was able to go through that. After a few years I went to college and studied Computer Sciences. I hope to be some kind of a Software Developer or a hardware fixer for computers, but for now I am currently a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the opportunity to listen to the missionaries when I was about 10 years old. Before that my parents and I were searching for a church to be able to go to. I was always curious about the Bible and I always loved to read. One thing that the missionaries will share with you is that they don't want you to take their word for what they are saying. Rather they encourage you to read the Book of Mormon for yourself and to pray about it. I have done this for myself and have found that the Book of Mormon was true, and that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is his church once again on the Earth again.

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I know that Joseph Smith is/was a true Prophet of God that he did see God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. I know that he was prepared to become the Prophet and that he was led the record that is now known as the Book of Mormon and that he translated this record by the power of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a man of good character, that he was honest and that he truly had a desire to serve God and his fellow man. I know that he died in Carthage Jail and in doing so sealed his own testimony of his work with his own blood. I know that God loves us still and that revelation is continuing to be received through prophets and apostles today.

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

Researching family history is something that is really starting to grow among all people. This is often refered to as the spirit of Elijah, and the turing of the hearts of the children to the fathers. (Malachi 4:5-6) This is something that is affecting everyone whether the know it or not. There is another reason that we do genealogy work and it is something that is deeply more personal to ourselves. We know that there are many things that God has commanded for us to do, such as Baptism, and there are many of our ancestors who have not been able to have the blessings of these ordinaces. These ordinaces are able to be performed, in proxy, for those anscestors that have passed on before and not had the chance to receieve them. This work has been performed in the past (1Corinthians 15:29) and has been restored along with the rest of the Gospel of Jesus Christ thanks to the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

One of the Saviors commandments is to go out and to share the Gospel with everyone as missionaries. Many of us go out for two years to fulfil this commandment and then contine to share this message with our friends and family. For me and many others there are other reasons though. The Biggest reason for me to go on a mission was that I had a message that I knew was true and that I knew would be able to help all those that I came in contact with. The reason we continue to share this message is because like the Savior we have a love for all those around us and we want them to know that.

How has attending Church services helped you?

Attending church is somthing that I know is good for everyone. Sure you can be able to feel the spirit outside of church and you can really feel close to God out in nature, but those are not the main reasons for going to church. The biggest reason is that the Lord feels it is needed for us to be out at church. When Jesus Christ was on the Earth, amoung the many things that he did, he set up a Church. This was not just any church this was His church. Paul tells us a little about the church and what it was there for, he said that that the Church organization was there "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12). While at church we are taught the things that we need to be doing in order to bring our lives in closer harmony with the saviors teachings, we learn how we can share the Gospel with others, and we feel the Spirit strengthen and uplift us. I have found that attending church has helped me to grow spiritually every time I go, as long as I go with the attitude of wanting to learn something while I am there. I know that it can help any person to learn and to grow.

How I live my faith

Before I went on my mission I had a couple of callings, or positions in the Church to help the Church and its members physically or spiritually grow. I had the Calling to be a librarian, something that I really loved dearly as I loved to be of a help to members so that they could have the resources that they need to help in their various callings such as teaching. At this point in my life though, I am a full-time Missionary so that I can be able to help others learn about and grow in their love for Jesus Christ and in His Restored Church that is here on the Earth once more.
