About Me

Hi, my name is Dena and this is my husband Mark. I work as a LPN in MN. We love hiking, fishing and camping. Here we are hiking in the mountains of SC, two summers ago. We do alot of primitive camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I could bore you for hours with pictures of pristine sunrises in the wilderness, fish, and sunburns!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I found the fullness of the gospel with the LDS church. I had always had questions and never seemed to find the answer. Athough I loved the churches that I belonged to, I always felt there was something missing.

When I went to the LDS church for the first time I knew that I had found those answers. I remember clearly and undoubtedly feeling the Spirit of the Lord as I listened to those talks. It was not what I heard, but what I felt as I listened. I felt the Spirit testify to me of the truthfulness and completeness of what was being said.
I have never regretted the decision I made to become a member of this church. I have been so richly blessed, and I have recieved time and again assurances that I indeed made the right choice.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of my church. I actually look foward to going to church on Sunday! All the members of my church are my family. I know how cliche that sounds, but they really are my brothers and sisters. If I have a problem, I go to them. If I have a joy to share, they are who I share it with. I love them and pray for them, and I know they do the same for me. I miss my mother and father, who live far away, but I am not homesick, because I live in a town with tons of family members, my church family members. I am one of the leaders of a women's group in our church. We enjoy serving our ward members as well as our community. For instance, if one of our church members becomes ill, has a baby or is hurt we deliver meals to the family. We all pull together, split the responsibilities among several ladies, and the meals are delivered. It is such as awesome blessing to be able to share the burden with someone when they are struggling. The smile of the receiving family, not having to worry about the simple task of preparing a meal, is gratifying. The Savior said, "When you do it unto the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me." This is how I live my faith.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes, a husband and wife can be together forever, not just "Until death do us part." My husband and I were married, the same way most others are these days. We chose to go to the temple on our first anniversary, where we were sealed together for time and eternity. I no longer dread the time when one of us passes. I know that we will be together again. I have eternity to enjoy with him.

When married by earthly power and the authority of man, our vows are "Until death do you part."

We believe that families can be together forever as part of our Heavenly Father's Great Plan of Happiness. His Work and His Glory is to bring to pass the exaltation and eternal life of man. He wants us to be even as He is and to return home to live with Him again.

Through the ordinances of his Holy Temples, God's son's and daughter's are able to make covenants. Through the power of His Holy Priesthood, be sealed together for all of time and eternity as Husband and Wife, parents and children.

Families were designed and instituted by God with the intent that they be forever. The love we feel in this life does not need to be cut off when we die. Those who have already died are not lost us forever. God has mercifully made a way by which all who would accept these saving ordinances can do so, living or dead.

We perform these ordinances for those who have in the past died so that they may have the opportunity of accepting them on the other side if they so choose to do so.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Chastity is reserving physical intimacy for after marriage. This sexual intimacy is such a beautiful and powerful display of love that it is to be reserved for that special time. When we do this we are showing the respect and love we have for ourselves and our bodies, as the gift from God that they are. Through our dress, language and behavior we also show our self worth and respect for who we are. The neat thing about being modest is the strong self confidence that is exhibited by your outward appearance. There is a power that comes from knowing that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father. As parents teach their children that simple truth, that self confidence will develop and as the desire to be modest in dress, language and behavior will come naturally. I know that this was the case in my life and am super grateful for the teachings of my parents and the high self confidence it cultivated in knowing of my individual worth as a daughter of God.
