Hi, I'm Aly
I'm a Mormon convert.
About Me
I was born in Texas, and lived there most of my life. I have worked at Disney World in Orlando, FL, and I am now living in Washington. I moved to Washington to be in movies, and met a new friend who was Mormon. I thought it was really weird at first, because I was uneducated on the Mormon faith. Then I started investigating, and received testimony of the truth of the Book of Mormon almost immediately.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised in the Baptist church, and left at a very young age because I disagreed with some of the things I was learning there. I always felt like part of the story was missing, and I knew in my heart that I lived with God before I came to Earth, and that was not something my family's beliefs supported. After years of searching myself for a new church, I finally gave up and decided that none of the churches I attended felt right. I knew I loved God, and I knew that Jesus was his son, and our Savior, but I felt alone in a lot of my beliefs. When I started reading about the LDS Church, and learning about things like pre-mortal life, and Celestial marriage, I finally started to feel like I wasn't alone. I downloaded the Book of Mormon on my e-reader, and upon reading the testimony of Joseph Smith, I got this strong feeling that I had finally found what I had been searching for my whole life. I did not know what the Book of Mormon was about, or who the people in the Book of Mormon were, but I knew without a shimmer of a doubt that everything in the book is true. I then requested that missionaries come to my house, so that I could go about becoming a member of the church. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is God's true church, and that the gospel was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, so that we would have guidance and help in these latter days. God loves us. He wants to teach us everything we need to know in order to become more like him, and to walk in righteousness and do good in our mortal lives, and I am so happy to read the scriptures, and walk in the footsteps of our Redeemer.
Personal Stories
Could you talk about your baptism?
My baptism was the happiest day of my life. I felt so excited and overwhelmed with love and support from my fellow brothers and sisters. I will never forget the way I felt as I stood at the top of the stairs into the baptismal font, just feeling like nothing was going fast enough, and I could not wait any longer to be baptized and washed clean. I wanted to jump in! The talks on baptism and the Holy Ghost that were given at my baptism were amazing, and it meant so much to me knowing that all the people that were there loved me.
How I live my faith
I attend sacrament service every Sunday, and enjoy going to scripture studies, and Family Home Evening at our local singles ward. Being around fellow members brings such joy in my life.
