About Me

I am from the San Francisco Area, but my husband is just about to enter the Army as a JAG so soon we will be moving all over the world! I am a stay at home mother of one and I love every second of it! I love making mosaics out of buttons of the LDS temples because I think there is nothing that can compare to them in beauty.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for so many reasons. First is because when I was a fourteen year old girl I knelt down in a parking lot (not quite as serene as Joseph Smith's grove) and asked my Father in Heaven if this was His church and he wanted me to be a part of it. It took a few days, but I received a resounding yes! I love the Book of Mormon! I know it is the word of God because of the way that it changed my life. When I started to seriously study it, I felt the Spirit of God pour out abundantly into my life. It changed me. Lastly I love this church because it is the same wherever you go. In the next six months my husband and I will have lived in five different states, but I know each place I got will have a congregation that will feel like home just like the one I attend now. Each one will teach the same truths, have the same resources, and the same programs. Wherever I go I have a family waiting for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day! I try to live like my Savior through the love that i show to my family and community. I pray numerous times each day and daily study the word of God. I teach a children's Sunday school class with my husband, and I visit with numerous ladies each month to make sure they know of God's love for them.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

No! In fact, the choir I sing with, Saints Unified Voices, is a great example of this. We represent many races and colors--African American, Polynesian, Persian, Native American, Caucasian, plus a few others and we are directed by a wonderful African American woman you may have heard of by the name of Gladys Knight Mcdowell. All of us are faithful members of the church who come together to sing praises to our Father and Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. One of the messages we bring to the world through song and through example is that there are no race or color restrictions as to who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are also no race or color restrictions as to who can hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone. In the Book of Mormon we read that the Lord 'inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God' (2 Nephi 26:33). We, as members of His church from every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, sing glory to God!

No there is no restriction. Heavenly Father made us all different but we are still brothers and sisters. We have a wonderful melting pot of races and colors. We only see our brothers and sisters.
