I love kids, the outdoors, and helping others. I feel extremely blessed for all that I have. I"m a mormon!

About Me

I was raised primarily in Arizona surrounded by a large extended family. I recently moved back after spending the last 12 years away from home with my wife and two kids. We currently live in Tucson, Arizona and love being back close to family. I am a pediatric dentist and love working with kids. Some of my favorite things to do is to travel. Places I have been include: NYC, Niagara Falls, Buffalo NY, Providence, RI, Boston, most of New England, Baltimore, Southern California, Kirtland Ohio, Pittsburgh, Virginia beach, Brazil, Rocky Point Mexico, and of course my favorite Washington DC. I'm not very good with history but love to visit historic places and landmarks. I hope to be able to retire someday and serve a mission with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in modern day prophets, in eternal families and in the power of the atonement. I feel like my convictions have been confirmed through prayer and the desire to know if I'm following the right path.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

In a sense its like excercising, at first it can be hard but it allows us to do more with our potential as we progress, where as sin traps, ensnares us and brings down.

How I live my faith

Prayer, scripture study, family activities and regular church attendance are things that I do on a daily and weekly basis. I feel like keeping a well balanced life keeps things in perspective for me.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith is a hero of mine. I try sometimes to imagine the trials he went through as an ordinary man and pattern my life in a way that I am following his example of perseverance and righteousness. I am always impressed that he never denied his convictions even in the face of death and hope that I too may be faithful in keeping the commandments until I should return to meet my maker.

Over my lifetime, I have heard countless theories concerning Joseph Smith - his intellect, his integrity, his sanity, everything about him. Some of the stories about him being a prophet sounded convincing... but then, some of the stories of him as a criminal sounded convincing, too. Then I read about Joseph Smith's visitation by the angel Moroni. Moroni told him that his name would be "had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken among all people." Well, that was certainly a true prophecy. So, it seemed, whether Joseph Smith was a prophet or not, tons of accusations and slander would be said against him anyway! That realization made me understand that only God could confirm whether or not Joseph was truly called of him. I got a strong confirmation of that truth. When others tell me that they "know the truth about the Joseph Smith," I always question their sources - it's usually a book or magazine article, possibly even by an esteemed, intellectual person. But I cannot and will not question my source of the real answer.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

This question started my whole spiritual quest, so it is only most appropriate for me to now answer it.

Mormons believe that we were chosen by the Heavenly Father in the spirit world pre-existence to receive a physical body and to come to Earth to our specific mother and father. We agreed, and we essentially are fighting on Heavenly Father's "side" in the war with Lucifer. It is our spiritual "job" in this world to live a certain way, to use our agency to choose between good and evil, in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father's only son, whom He sacrificed to allow for our atonement to allow for our spiritual progression.

Mormons believe that while here on Earth, we should learn and live more like our Heavenly Father. This is our spiritual quest which is accomplished through our choices. We marry and build our own family, and by following the Scriptures and living accordingly, we receive access to the Temples where eternal ordinances are performed individually and together as a family.

We can be with our family forever, after death, joined together in Heaven, with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. We have greater peace in this life and eternal joy in the life to come. This is the purpose of our life here.

Before I understood this and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my life was reasonably happy but devoid of purpose. Something was missing. I felt incomplete.

Now, I have peace. My soul is soothed.
