About Me

I was born in the covenant and I am blessed with a wife, seven year old daughter, and nine month old son. I was inactive for about ten years and met my wife believe it or not at a bar. We got married had our daughter and went back to church my wife was baptized and we will be going to the temple in June. It has been a long road struggling with a smoking addiction but with the help from the Lord I have overcome that and plan on receiving the priesthood in May.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned something on Sunday when I had to speak in church. The prophet Joseph Smith had a revelation which was the Word of Wisdom. That law in our church is to protect us and keep us healthy. Over 150 years ago how did the prophet know that tobacco and other substances were harmful to our health. The only way he knew was through revelation. So if he knew that the substances they were using 150 years ago were bad for you, then the church has to be the true church of Christ. They stopped using bad substances before doctors or anyone else would know about the harm that they would create. I love this church so much and I know that when someone opens there heart to the gospel nothing but good things can happen!

How I live my faith

I am a first counseler in the Young Mens. We are a small branch with only two young men, but they are the most special young men. One boy is 12 and has some needs and the other is 17 who I pray for everyday in hopes he will draw closer to our Heavenly Father. I love my calling in the church and I love to serve others in the church. I live by this "Service unto others is like service unto the Lord." I find the more that you do service for others or for the Lord the more you open the doors for the spirit to fill your heart. There is no better feeling than that of the spirit.

What is the First Vision?

The first vision was when Joseph Smith at age 14 went to the woods to seek answers about the true church. He knelt in what is now known as the Sacred Grove and started praying. Our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ then appeared to him.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

We do not drink coffee, tea, alcohol, use tobacco, or illegal drugs because of a commandment known as the Word of Wisdom.

The Word of Wisdom was a commandment revealed to the prophet Joseph Smith in 1833. It tells us the importance of keeping care of our bodies because they are temples. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

We know that while from the outside it may seem restrictive it really gives us freedom it blesses us physically and spiritually. The things that we are counseled to stay away from in this law from our loving Heavenly Father help us keep our agency. When you are addicted to something you have given up some of your agency, it controls you. Satan tries to use addictive things to bind us down so we cannot focus on our relationships with the Lord.

In addition to us keeping our agency we are promised these things in the Word of Wisdom: "all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments... shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures... And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen." (D&C 89:18-21

So those who keep the commandment are able to be in tune with the Holy Ghost more. That is a great blessing because it is the Spirit that helps us stay on the path to eternal life and teaches us all spiritual truths.
