I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a new mom to a sweet baby girl and a wife to a wonderful husband. I have a degree in music education and I teach elementary school music. I grew up in a big city and come from an awesome family. I have four sisters and a brother and phenomenal parents.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a wonderful LDS family and was baptized at the age of eight. My parents, family, teachers, and friends have taught me and have helped me live the gospel throughout my life. At times in my life I am not sure how seriously I took the gospel or church. I think I have always known its truthfulness and had a testimony but there have been times when I have drifted away from what I knew was right. It has been through these experiences and through other challenges that I have come to know the love that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for me and the happiness that living the gospel can bring to my life. I know the church is true and I am so grateful for the many blessings I receive from my loving Heavenly Father when I chose to do what I know is right.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings each Sunday, praying and reading my scriptures personally and with my family, and by striving to be a good friend and example to the people around me.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Mormon temples are a place that as members of the church we go to to make promises with our Heavenly Father. In return our Heavenly Father promises to bless us as we live according to the promises we have made with him. In the temple we also do work for people who have died without having the opportunity to know the truthfulness of the gospel. We have the privilege as members of the church to be baptized, confirmed, endowed, and sealed for the dead. We also go to the temple to complete these ordinances for ourselves. I am so grateful for the blessings I have received as I have been able to go and participate in temple work and I am grateful to be sealed to my family.

Temples are used to perform sacred ordinances necessary for salvation. One of these is a temple marriage--making it possible to be together as a family for eternity. Since these ordinances are sacred, only members who are striving to live the gospel may enter. All members are strongly encouraged to become and/or stay worthy to enter the temple. Members also go to the temple to seek guidance, comfort, and personal revelation from God.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

There are no restrictions. Any such practices have been done away with and all the blessings of the gospel are available to any individual who chooses to follow Christ. This is something I have studied and prayed as I have wanted to know for certain that equality is taught in this church. I have come to know for myself that it is. There is a rich history in the church of black and African membership and there are efforts to celebrate this and other cultural diversity.
