Woody: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Woody

I am a former infantryman. Now I work with computers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a computer geek. My interests include science fiction and Military History. I work with the clients of my company to install, configure and administer networks, e-mail and archiving systems.
I am single. I have a Masters Degree and am working on my Doctorate.
I served in the military for about 11 and 1/2 years before changing to my current career computers.

Why I am a Mormon

I actually grew up in upstate New York, near where the church began. I joined the curch when I was in the Republic of Panama. Go figure.
The young lady I was dating introduced me to the missionaries. Between the missionaries and the book of Mormon, the church answered questions I had since I was a youth.
My conversion came when I took the Moroni Challenge Moroni 104. Since then there have been doubts and questions, but the fact I got a response to my question and continue to receive personal revelation is the rock on which I can base my faith or ustard seed.
Simply put, I am simply a better person by being a member and trying to be a good member.

Personal Stories

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

That is a great question. I know our Heavenly Father loves us, and I know and appreciate the love and sacrifices the savior has made. The Father and the Son seem like they have more important concerns than me. The Holy Ghost can be a constant companion. In many ways, the Holy Ghost is like a good friend, always around. Like a good friend, the Holy Ghost encourages me to do the right thing, even when I do not want to. The Holy Ghost is there, saying, c'mon. You know you should (or should not.) When I am feeling down, the Holy Ghost is there saying, I know you feel bad, but you are not a bad person. And even at times, the Holy Ghost even gives me technical advice. Other times, when I am ponderig matters spiritual, educational or technical, the Holy Ghost is there saying, "did you think about this? Did you consider this aspect of the issue?"

On ling drives, the Holy Ghost and I contemplate a number of issues. I know I can count on teh guidance of the Holy Ghost.

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

I was going through my divorce. I was devistated that the woman I loved so much walked out of my life. I prayed for help in my time of despair. The phone rang. It was my Home Teaching companion. We were supposed to give a lessong to a new member. He asked if I could help. Reluctantly, I said yes. I studied the aprts of the lesson I was to give. On the appointed day, we went and delivered the lesson.
When I go home, I again asked for help. I was feeling miserable and depressed. Again, the phone rang. It was my Home Teaching companion, again. This time, he was asking if I could help with an assignment the ward had received. While the project was scheduled for 6 hours, he told me I could volunteer for 4 hours. I reluctantly agreed to serve for 3 hours. When I arrrived, I noticed the bishop was there also serving. The presence of the bishop indicated to me the importance of what we were doing, so I stayed for the entire 6 hours.

It was only later that I realized that service was the answer to my desparate pleas. While I was serving others, I was not at home, alone, feeling sorry for myself.

How I live my faith

I am a home teacher. I hold a current temple recommend.
While I do enjoy Sunday School and like the members of the ward, living my faith is a daily challenge. I work with non-members. I do not smoke or drink. Others know I attend church and the reason I do not drink. By living my faith, others view me as an example of other members and the church in general.
I have received many blessings in my life both spiritually and professionally. I attribute these blessings to our Heavenly Father.
