Why I am a Mormon

I'm a recent convert and I love the Church and its people. It's such an unusual, very loving, Jesuslike community where we all serve each one and the Lord. The Church is the best thing that has ever happened to me!!! Why I am a Mormon? - Because Families are Forever. - Because the Lord restored His Gospel. - Because IT'S TRUE!

How I live my faith

By doing it one day after the other. I live my faith by choosing to be better every day, by thanking the Lord for my blessings as well as for my challenges. By going to Church every Sunday to take the Sacrament, by doing my temple work. By loving others...

Who are the Mormons? Well mormons are like me and you, and the guy sitting over the corner, the woman taking her girl to ballet lessons, a busy college student trying to finish his degree, etc But we are also people with strong family values, with loving visiting teacher, with a bishop who calls you because you are sick and could not attend the Sacrament. We are normal people just like everyone else! We are nurses, hair dressers, business men, and parents. We believe in Christ and we believe in God. We read the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon because they fit hand in hand with one another! As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (that is our real name), I can say that we are just regular people finding our way in this life just like you... we have just chosen to follow the Savior and his will in that we follow the commandments and other various things that you've probably heard, like not drinking, being monogamous and so forth. But why? Well, because we truly feel happy when we do these things and do what our Heavenly Father, God, wants us to. In society, being "Mormon" may seem obscure because our standards do not line up with the standards and choices that most people choose to make, but that's just because we've decided that in order to be happy, we must follow the Lord's path. And His path is straight and narrow, and so it requires a lot of effort, but I promise you that it provides so much happiness. I have witnessed this happiness in my own life and I know that this religion's guidelines and teachings can bring this happiness to all who seek it. So that's what we are, normal people just striving to be Christ-like and serve others, filling our lives with happiness. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Because family is so important to God. Why do you think God intoduces Christ as His "only begotten SON in whom I am well pleased" and not something more formal like my servant, the Christ? Why in the scriptures is God referred to as "The Father" more than any other title? why is it that naturally we come into this life into a family, whether functional or not? Families are ordained of God. Agency and human nature is what may cause us to believe other wise. Family ought to be our foundation of education in this life. I've moved around a lot. I've attended many different schools and one thing I've learned is that it is hard to focus on my goals if I don't have a social network providing acceptance and unity. A support group I can lean on and be there to be leaned on at school. It's a miracle that God has provided that support group for the important lessons in life. If our families aren't what they could be, we can choose individually to be an example and a friend to them as far as possible. practice the principles of repentence and forgiveness. Understanding that our families are meant to be eternal helps us to not allow the small things to obstruct our relationships. Show more Show less
