Hi, I'm Brian Scott
I'm a father. I'm a Texan. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love camping, hiking, shooting, cooking, reading, writing, music, gaming, being a father and husband, and most of all I love God and my Savior, Jesus Christ.
Why I am a Mormon
I first became interested in the LDS faith when a friend who was a member told me about baptisms for the dead 1 Corinthians 1529 and how those who never had a chance to hear and accept the Gospel in their mortal life would have a chance to accept it in the afterlife. As a young man growing up in West Texas, it was difficult to accept that a kind, merciful, loving and just God could persecute with eternal torment those that never had a chance to accept the Gospel in their lifetime due to no fault of their own, such as geography, or the time in which they lived. Yet, that is what I was taught.
When I heard that Mormons believed that all people would be given a chance to hear and accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I was impressed enough to investigate. In meeting with the missionaries and reading the Book of Mormon as well as re-reading the Bible, I knew that I had finally found Christ's church restored on the Earth. I am grateful for a Savior, even Jesus Christ who suffered for my sins and gave His precious life that I might live eternally. I am grateful for a prophet to lead and guide us and give us insight from the Lord. I am grateful for the wonderful people I have met in this Church. I am happy to know that because we were sealed in the Temple, my family can be together forever and not only until death do us part.
Personal Stories
How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
Once one has taken a stand, it is easier to take that stand or make another one again. Sort of like lies lead to bigger lies seeking, finding and exercising truths can lead to to bigger and better truths.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
All of them! Mostly though, I try to remember to love my neighbor. I think the most endearing message of the Savior is that of love.
Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?
I share the Gospel with my friends because I believe that in order to reach the highest degree of eternal salvation, one must first accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It would be selfish, even despicable to not share that!
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
It has made me aware of who I am, why I am here, what I need to work toward and where I am going. In other words, it has given me direction and purpose.
How I live my faith
I currently serve in my ward as the Gospel Doctrine Sunday School teacher. I am a Home Teacher as well, and take my callings to teach and expound as sacred. I am humbled to know that Heavenly Father has entrusted me with such work as this, It is an honor to serve the brothers and sisters of Christ's Church.
