About Me

I am a full-time mom to three kids all under 4 years of age! I love to run, play soccer, and explore different museums. I am an aspiring cook, but still in need of a lot of practice. I love being outdoors and seeing the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I find peace and happiness through my beliefs. I know that the Book of Mormon truly is the word of God because, like reading other scriptures, every time I open the Book of Mormon to read, peace and joy immediately come into my life. God wants us to be happy above all things, and true happiness can be found in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a mom to 3 very small children can really try my patience at times but I am always strengthened in parenting because of my belief in the Mormon Faith.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

My family has moved around quite a bit in the last 5 years. Every time we get to a new city, we find the Mormon Church and start attending services. We have instant friends, and people who know us and look after us as we get acclamated to a new place. I love attending my church services not only for spiritual worship but also because I feel "at home" wherever I go.

How I live my faith

I love to work with young children during our Sunday services and help teach them about Jesus Christ, our Savior. We spend time singing songs about principles like faith, prayer, kindness,etc. We play games that teach young children to be helpful and kind, we talk about being like Jesus in all that we do and say. I love working with young children in our church.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

A temple is a house of the Lord, a place where we may worship our Heavenly Father and feel of His presence. It is a sacred place where no unclean thing can enter. Because of the importance and sacredness of the temple, a temple recommend is required and is received based on individual worthiness within the church in order to enter its holy walls.

The temple is where I go to find answers, to find peace, and to feel the Spirit. We are encouraged to go as often as possible and to attend seeking Spiritual guidance. Inside we perform sacred ordinances for ourselves and more often for others, those who are deceased. God requires that all to make covenants in order to return to His presence and many died without the opportunity to make these covenants. In the temple we perform the ordinances for them in their name giving them the opportunity to reject or accept the ordinance and thus enter into the presence of the Father. The temple is a very sacred and holy place.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

In 1776 the Declaration of Independence declared all men to be equal. However in 1830 when the Book of Mormon was published and the church established women and people of color still had no legal rights. The Book of Mormon declared 'Behold, the Lord esteemeth all flesh in one... (1 Ne 17:35) and '..black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile' (2 Nephi 26:33). Joseph taught and lived this. He authorized the Church's women's organization The 'Relief Society'.

When the church moved outside the U.S. borders, they created the State of Deseret with their own constitution which gave ALL adults the right to vote. The State of Deseret was later divided into US states. When the Woman's right to vote began in 1913, women had the right to vote in 4 states: Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and Utah.- all part of the original State of Deseret with their large Mormon populations. The Relief Society actively supported the Sufferage movement.

The church has always encouraged women to develop their skills and education. The Relief Society sent and paid the schooling for one of the first women at Medical School. Nothing has changed. Motherhood is emphasized because it can be a woman's greatest role - for children are our future. It can also be a woman's greatest joy. Jobs, looks, accomplishments etc will fade or be forgotten, but a loving close family won't, And thanks to grandchildren it will continue to expand.
