Brady: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Brady

I was born in Utah, raised a Florida boy, and I crave to take in the world around me. I love to live, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a humor loving high school student and i am glad to finally be graduating. I will be attending a college in the Midwest starting this June and I am very excited to be opening up a new chapter in my life. I love to work and I enjoy putting forth physical effort in both sports and labor. I enjoy playing basketball, football, and soccer as well as other games like ultimate Frisbee and dodge ball or "sting" as I’ve always called it. I am a self-taught classical guitarist and I love to sing, listen to, and preform music. I have learned to love the beach but truly look forward to the day when i can live in New England. I love to travel although I don't get to do so very much and one day I hope to be able to see many nations and countries all over the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I've missed what probably amounts to a grand total of ten days of Sunday Church in my entire life. I live, breathe, and love the "cultural experience" of being a Latter Day Saint and from the time I turned eight to around my seventeenth birthday I would have to be honest and say that my involvement with the Church had a lot to do with the people in it and the lifestyle I lived because of it, and not as much to do with my self-recognized testimony of the Gospel of Christ.

However, due to events that occurred shortly after my seventeenth birthday and around Easter of 2010, I finally realized why it really is that I choose to be a Mormon. At the time I was feeling very much that I had no real testimony of my own and that I had been living off of the "borrowed light" of my parents, leaders, and close friends. I felt as though I was a member in activity but not fully one in my heart. I didn't know if I had a testimony of The Truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, but I decided that I was going to find out.

With the assistance of my church leaders and through the example of my parents, I began to realize through prayer and scripture study that the testimony I felt that I was lacking had really been there all along. The Savior had been, and still is, guiding me every step of the way since birth.

His love and kindness buoyed up my parents as they strived to raise me as a young child. His bestowal of the Gift of the Holy ghost upon after I was baptized at age eight protected and guided me into and still through my teenage years. His commandments and the Aaronic Priesthood gave me a strong sense of moral duty as well as deep bonds with both my home and ward families. I had learned the basics of how to serve, love, teach, learn, listen, share, and be a disciple of the Savior without even recognizing it.

I truly did have angels surround me at all times in the form of caring leaders who gently pushed me and pulled me in the directions I should go. Christ had literally carried me through my short life up to that point and i knew it. I could feel a burning appreciation for all that he had done to get me to where I was and I finally knew why I was a Mormon. I knew that Christ was my personal savior and that I needed him every single day for more reasons than I was even aware of.

Once I recognized my testimony for what it was I felt as though my actions in the Church were finally not just actions. They were a part of who i was. I am active in the Church because I have a Testimony of the Doctrine of Christ as restored through Joseph Smith Jr. I am active in the Church because I love the joy and peace that comes from righteous living and through quiet service in the Kingdom of God on the Earth today. I am a Mormon because I know deep down inside my soul that Christ lives, that he loves me, and that he is my savior who is presently and actively guiding my life back towards the Father in the eternities.

I know this to be true, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I attempt to live my faith in every aspect of my life. Every single morning I wake up early to attend a scripture study class at my church building. Every Sunday I attend at least three hours of Services depending on the demands of the various responsibilities I have. I currently hold two different "callings" or volunteer positions within my congregation or "ward" and I have grown to love the people in my congregation through my service to them.

As fulling as church service is I feel that it is much more rewarding to live my faith in places that are away from other members of the LDS Church. While I am at school or out in the community I rarely am in a situation where there are at most two or three Mormons in the room. I love using this as an opportunity to share what I believe with those who aren’t of my faith. I find ways to mention fun things I did at my church or comment on how cool a certain aspect of my faith is with someone who may not know much about it. I also love to listen to other people talk about their religion and a like having non-confrontational conversations about the similarities and differences between my faith and the other persons beliefs.

I just like finding ways to talk about my Church because I love it so much and I think that it’s sad that many people don't know a whole lot about the Mormons as a people, as well as a Religion.
