About Me

I'm the mom to one happy little girl and the wife to a really great guy. I taught first grade for a year before having my little girl. I loved it, but love being a mom even more. I love running, playing the piano, sewing, baking, hiking, playing games, and being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the knowledge I have of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and the happiness I feel when I follow his example. I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony of eternal families and know that I can be with my family forever. I am a Mormon because I know that my Savior lives and loves me. I know he sacrificed not only for mankind, but for me, so that I can repent and live again with my Father in Heaven. I am a Mormon because I know that I am a Daughter of God and by living the gospel of Jesus Christ I can be happy.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ in my words, thoughts, and actions. Some days I am better at this than others. To me, living my faith is not just attending church on Sunday. My faith is a part of my everyday life and I try to keep my actions true to my beliefs.
I also have the opportunity to teach other wonderful women one Sunday each month through our women's group, the Relief Society.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We do regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and we know that it is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. We study, read, teach, and learn from it in our homes and at church. We believe the prophets of the Old and New Testaments were true prophets of God and believe in their words and teachings.

I personally enjoy The Bible as one of my favorite books. I know it is the word of The Lord. As I read the bible, I also tried to study where it came from. Before joining the church, I did believe that the bible was the word of God. But why? I believed in it before reading it... Well, the reason why I know, is because I ask God and He answered me. There is no other way. I wasn't there when it was translated, so how can I know? Some people just believe that it is true because everybody else says so. Heavenly Father can answer our prayers, why don't we ask Him?

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are strong. Mormon women are sure. We are taught from the time that we are tiny that we are daughters of God. Many people question equality between Mormon men and women because we believe in the traditional roles of the family, the classic stay-at-home mom and the working father. It makes me sad that society has degraded the role of a mother and made it seem undesirable and less than an occupation outside the home.

We believe in eternal families. We believe that this life is the one time in all eternity that we are sent to be tried and tested. If those beliefs be true than there is nothing more noble and exciting than being a mother. To be chosen to bring life into the world and to steer that life to goodness and love is one of the greatest and most impressive things that can be done.

I am proud to be a woman. I am excited to be a mother one day. I am an advocate for education and self-betterment for all. I value the differences of women from men. All of these things I learned to do from my religion. If that's not feminism I don't know what is.
