I'm a College Graduate, Certified to Teach, and a Full-Time Mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of a beautiful baby boy. I have a degree in Math Education with a minor in Art. I love solving problems and playing board games. I also enjoy sculpting and drawing. I love to read books and watch movies. I grew up in a family of 9 children. I love to visit my brothers and sisters and spend time with them and their growing families. I enjoy keeping in touch with more distant family and friends through facebook.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an important part of who I am. Through my experiences I've learned to develop Faith in our Savior Jesus Christ, Family Values and Charity. I learned to pray, study the scriptures and listen to the voice of the Prophet. By being a follower of Christ I agree to be a representative of Him. I believe that through my service in the Church I can bless the lives of those around me. I know that no matter where I go the church will be true, teaching the same lessons no matter the language. I know where ever I am I can find people who share my faith and they will welcome me.

How I live my faith

I attend Church Meetings each week where I have the opportunity to learn from and teach other members of the Church. I take the opportunity to renew covenants I made with God and give thanks for all that he blesses me and my family with. My family holds Family Home Evening each week to specifically help us grow closer to each other and to Jesus Christ. I visit with other Sisters and try to find ways to give service and strengthen all those I come in contact with.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Baptism is essential in our Heavenly Fathers plan for us. It is a way for us to accept the blessing promised us, such as living with our families forever. When we are baptized we take upon us the name of Jesus Christ and accept the Atonement he made for us. Because it is so important, we believe that everyone who ever lived should have the opportunity to be baptized. There are many people who died without being baptized. We believe that you must have a physical body to be baptized, so worthy Mormons go to the temple and are baptized in behalf of people who died without that opportunity. The spirits of the people we are baptized for then have the opportunity to accept that act in heaven.

As a temple ordinance worker for the Mesa Temple for the past 5 years, I have grown in appreciation for the temple and the ordinances that are preformed. I believe that those who have passed-on are given the opportunity to accept the work that is performed in their behalf as if they were here - physically. The initial ordinance of accepting Jesus Christ is baptism. The ordinance of baptism is performed as it was originally by John the Baptist for Jesus in the temple by emersion. The temple gives those that have passed-on the opportunity to accept the mission of Jesus Christ and all the ordinances that he performed.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

God gave us the ability to choose. There are substances in coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco and other harmful drugs that limit our ability to choose. The intent of the law of health we follow is to preserve our ability to make good choices. This law of health is called the “Word of Wisdom”. It not only guides us regarding the substances to avoid, but also those to include in our diet. We are told to eat fruits and vegetables in their season, include grains, and eat meat sparingly. We are promised that if we follow these guidelines we will be healthy, able to learn and accomplish all that is required of us by our various roles in life. I am grateful for the blessings I receive from following the Word of Wisdom.

As a Dietitian I especially love this law of health because as I’ve seen the US guidelines for nutrition develop they are now aligning with what the Lord told us many years before. I believe that the guidelines set forth in our law of health are the minimum requirements for good health. It may be necessary for some people to avoid certain foods or eat a lower fat diet, or avoid caffeine entirely, but these specifics are not mentioned in the law of health and are to be determined by each individual.
