Hi, I'm Julie
I'm a Mormon, As a sign language teacher, l can have more chances to share the gospel with God's children.
About Me
I am a mother of two children. My husband and I were baptized in 1970s. We had our Wedding Reception in Kom Tong Hall of the Church. Later on we were sealed in the L.A. Temple for our Eternal Marriage. We are so grateful to be the members of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Days Saints.
Throughout my life, I enjoy Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy and Western oil painting. I often travel around the world with my husband in search of inspirations. I regard the Latter-Day Saints Gospel Art Exhibition as the highlight of each year, in which I can share my testimony of Jesus Christ through my paintings.
Another hobby I love is hair cutting. By offering free hair cut service for church members and friends, I find love and satisfaction in my service.
I am also interested in animals especially dogs. I have an eleven year old Siberian Husky with red and silver hair. He is part of my family.
Why I am a Mormon
When I was 14 years old, two young missionaries came to my door. They gave me the Book of Mormon and taught me how to pray with sincere words. They said that if I had faith, the Holy Ghost would testify the very existence of God, Jesus Christ and their love for me. My heart finally began to open. I got my testimony for the Savior. I would like to invite you to read the Book of Mormon from today onwards and tell me about your feeling.
I feel grateful for the blessing that I was raised by a very kind and righteous mother whom I always deeply respect. She is not only my mother but also my best friend. I am very grateful that she allowed me to be baptized. Our church always emphasizes that family is very important. I can’t agree more and according to the gospel, I determine to honor her as best as I can.
All the time, I feel peace and love inside the church. Our church is a place for me to learn and make many good friends, too. These are the reasons why our family keeps going to the church all through these years. My two sons even finished the mission work years ago.
Growing in the church is a memorable journey in my life. I am so happy to tell people that I am a Mormon.
Personal Stories
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
Jesus Christ has great love for us, he even sacrificed his life for us, he shows me that LOVE IS TO SHARE LOVE IS TO SERVE LOVE IS TO FORGIVE. By following his example, I will not restrict my love to my family only rather, I would extend to others.
How I live my faith
By serving the Lord, I have not only gained my own testimony but also broadened my horizon and interest in serving the community.
when I was called to be the Director of Family History Centre in H.K, my duty was to help members and the public to search for their family history through the microfiches and other advanced technology. I bear my testimony that some miraculous experience did happen through their faith and prayers. Our church believes in eternal marriage and eternal family relationship. Through the genealogy work, even ancestors and descendants can be sealed and bonded in the “Temple” eternally i.e. "FAMILY CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER".
Our church Temple is a sacred place where we perform special ordinances. I have been a temple worker there since its grand opening in 1996. Altogether.
Through learning family history, I also fall in love with vintage and antiques such as old photos and old buildings etc. Subsequently, I decided to enroll in the volunteer tour guide class. To my surprise, I learn that there are ninety-eight “over hundred year old” historical buildings in Hong Kong. It is fun and my voluntary work will definitely arouse people’s interest in local history and preservation.
My Patriarchal Blessing mention that I have to be brave to bear my testimony for our saviour Jesus Christ throughout the world so my husband and me worked together as a Church Service Missionary couple in genealogy work for two and a half years. We love this calling.
Also, I was called to learn sign language to facilitate the communications with the hearing impaired members and investigators. I was recruited by other education institute to teach students sign language. Through my service, I am able to share the gospel with a lot of people and deeply feel that God loves “ALL” His children despite their physical impairment.
I bear the testimony that when I serve the Lord and others, I find true happiness and peace in life.
