About Me

 I just finished my first year of college. I am now home preparing to serve a full time mission. I love to mountain bike, swim, play tennis, soccer, football, anything active. One time I went down to Saint George, UT to climb and mountain bike. We had to go through some of the worst sandpits and mud piles but once we made it to the top it was well worth the view. 

i am now on a mission in safford, arizona. lovin it, love the lord, love my family, life is good :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a son of God. He loves me so much and makes himself manifest in many ways each and every day.
I went to school at BYU in Utah and when we drove home at the end of the semester we passed one of the LDS temples. We felt like we should stop and check it out. We stopped and viewed the site for some time before we got back on the road.
Well right before we entered Saint Louis we were stopped in traffic and were not moving on the freeway. We found out that 5 tornados had just touched down.
Though the temple was not built just for my family i know that Heavenly Father placed it their for us to view and had we not got off the freeway we would have been in the tornados.
Another way he manifests himself is through my loving parents. it is amazing how much love i get from my parents on days when im sad or days when im happy.
After a long day at school i would get the mail and to my surprise i had received a care package from my parents with a letter and my favorite candies.
Now i believe that Heavenly Father sent a message to my mother through the Holy Ghost and she followed the prompting, in turn brightening my day.
I know I have a very loving and generous Heavenly Father. I know His son and my elder brother Jesus christ, my Savior, lives. I know that out of Small things are big things brought to pass. As it was for Joseph Smith a little farm boy who asked a question he had been curious about to his Heavenly Father in simple prayer. And as promised He received an answer. I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet, who translated the Gold plates into what is now the Book of Mormon.
I am David Grant and Know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints is the true church restored upon the face of the earth today.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

Ever since i was baptized my choices in life have been influenced by the Holy Ghost. their was one friday night at my high school where some of my friends were in the back of the truck getting ready to go paint up. i hopped in, they welcomed me and then we started to head off, one guy turned on some music and my spirit was gone. i knew what i had, and how i felt when the music started. If i wanted the best feeling of joy back from the spirit i had to jump off. Right before we got out of the school parking lot i made my decision and jumped off. and immediately that spirit of joy, peace, warmth, and comfort was back. this and all decisions in life have been influenced by the holy ghost and because of that i have been joyous.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

the Holy Ghost which dwells in those who have been baptized is the spirit of God. Things that are of God are good. When we make good choices God rejoices and His spirit is more prevalent in us. we feel happier and we have a desire to make better choices. For example when i went to a football game for my high school some acquaintances were going to paint up before the game. i decided to join them. as we headed out of the parking lot music played in the truck that took the goodness out of my heart. i felt aweful. like i had just stole from my parents and that day they told me how much they loved me. so i had two choices, i could get off the truck before it left the parking lot or i could let this feeling of guilt dwell in me. at the stop sign, i jumped off the truck. as soon as i made the decision my heart was full and happiness resided with me once again. because i made the right choice the spirit was with me again. to continue to have that good feeling i knew the choices i must make. thus right choices become easier. the gospel is easier to live 100% of the time than it is to live 99%.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day I wake up. Jesus said, "Keep my commandments and you shall prosper in the land." I try to give meaningful service. I am not perfect, far from it, but i know that if I try to bring my heart into keeping the commandments for the Lord that He will help me prosper in the land.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No, but we are instructed to be involved and to seek spiritual guidance in all political matters.

We believe that the leaders of a nation, state, and community can have a great influence for good or for evil and we need to ensure that they are represent our values and beliefs.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has no political affiliation, and remains neutral on political activity. As declared by the Church, its purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ, not to elect politicians, and this applies to all the nations were the Church is established. In the same way, the Church does not endorse nor promote political parties, and its members are not directed to vote for specific candidates. Elected officials who are also members of the Church, does not represent the Church's position.

However, the Church does encourages us, members of the Church, to play a responsible role as citizens of the nations, to be informed, and to exercise our right to vote. Also, we are expected to respect others who think different and to participate in dialogue and exchange of ideas to reach consensus.

In the Church, we learn since we are young to be responsible and to seek to serve our communities and families. The Church's programs aims to strength our capacity and willingness to serve others. In this same context, we support leaders and programs which purposes are to make a better world. I personally support leaders who inspire those principles, and pray that whoever is elected would make wise decisions for the welfare of our nations and those of others. To obey, honor, and sustain the law of our country is an important responsibility of every member of our church.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

I served a mission in South Korea for two years, so I can tell you. :) The missionaries will probably be as nervous as you are as they arrive at your home. The nervousness does not come from timidity or a lack of belief in the message they bring, but because they want so much to express their testimonies and the Spirit they feel to you.

The missionaries will likely introduce themselves and get to know you and your family. Though missionaries are called by God to preach His word, they come from largely every-day backgrounds and have lives likely much like yours.

After getting to know your family, they will likely ask what questions you may have about life or the Mormon church. Using the scriptures and their own personal experiences, they will seek to help you find answers. Don't be afraid of asking any question or thinking you may offend or sound silly to the missionaries. They are called to help and serve and are very understanding.

After answering your questions and sharing a spiritual message, the missionaries will ask you to act on the message. A soccer player does not listen to his coach during practice only to go home without kicking a ball, right? In the same way, the missionaries will invite you to read a chapter of scripture or seek for yourself that what they are saying is true. You don't have to just take the missionaries' word in what they say--a loving God is happy to answer thoughtful, earnest prayers seeking for the truth.
