I am a small town girl with big town hopes and dreams! I am a full-time college student and a faithful employee for local youth programs. I love working with youth in my community. It not only fulfills a deep need to serve those that are going to be the future leaders of America, but I feel close to the youth because I consider myslef to be a life-long big kid! Most of my hobbies include spending time with my family and close friends, reading a good book, or exploring the great outdoors. My church family is also important to me. Whenever I need help with something in my life, both simple and complicated, I know my brothers and sisters will be there to help lift me up in time of need.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is the true gospel on the earth today. Although I am a life-long member, I know for myself that I want to be apart of my Heavenly Father's kingdom on earth, and in Heaven. His kingdom was once my home, and when I was baptized, I began my journey back to Him and His beloved Son Jesus Christ. I want to be with my family for eternity, and that includes my First Family. Not only will people notice the truth of the gospel, but they will see how organized (down to the most tiny detail), loving, and supportive the church is of its members. This is not to say that work will not be involved. Every member must give as much as they recieve, but it is a promise that this does pay off in more ways than many people can fathom. This world-wide organization is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. And, without a doubt in my mind, it can be the best decision any person will make if they choose to be a part of it.
The Restoration of the Gospel is a humbling story of a 14 year old boy who had a simple question and was answered in a marvelous manner. As someone who works with youth, it is hard to imagine a young man of such an impressionable age taking the time to kneel in a grove to ask his Father which church to join. Joseph Smith was an extrodinary example of faith, bravery, and willingness to accept that which was the truth. I know my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, my Brother, appeared to Jospeh in 1820. I know that through Jospeh Smith the church of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth never to be lost again. Many revelations speak to the significance of this moment in time and the blood of those who were murdered, including Brother Joseph, are a testimony to the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Book of Mormon answers life's three major questions, Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where do I go after I leave this earth? Not only can it answer these questions, but it strengthens my testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and how His mission on earth gave me eternal life. Because of the Book of Mormon, I know I am a literal Child of God.
I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be. However, I strive each and every day to do what the Lord has asked me to. This might include personal prayer and scripture study, visiting teaching, fulfilling my calling, or attending my Sunday meetings. All contribute to helping me progress and grow spiritually. The most important thing I can do to live my faith is to share what I know to be true with anyone who wants to know for themselves. By helping others to learn the truth for themselves, I rediscover all over again what I know to the be the whole and simple truth on the Earth today.
