Michael: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Michael

I'm a father of five, who loves sports, reading, movies and date night with my wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of five -- two boys, three girls. I work in advertising sales at the local newspaper and enjoy meeting new people each day. I love watching college basketball and football. I also love to read, especially a great novel. I am a movie buff as well and love quoting my favorite movie lines in daily conversation.

Why I am a Mormon

My life has been richly blessed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. God has made it clear to me, in ways large and small, that He lives, that Jesus is my Savior and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His Church, literally led by Him. The purpose and direction the Church provides in my life are a daily blessing.
I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon on many occassions and have felt repeated witnesses that it is true. When I am feeling down, disappointed or alone, spending a few minutes in its pages makes a huge difference for me.
When I have shared the gospel with others, it has increased my own witness that it is true. I love the Savior, His words and His works. I am grateful that he suffered for my sins and makes so many wonderful blessings possible for me and my family.

Personal Stories

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

Two daily habits have helped our family get through the challenges of life together. The first is daily prayer. We gather each day before school/work and kneel together in prayer. Sometimes I offer the prayer, sometimes my wife does and sometimes the children do. Hearing them pray for each other has been a neat experience.
About six years ago, we began the habit of reading daily from scriptures. With small children, it was slow going at first. In fact, it took us nearly five years to read the Book of Mormon all the way through. We began with one verse apiece, but as our children have grown, we've expanded our reading. It's great to read the words of Christ together and discus them. We often stop to ask questions and are frequently amazed at what the children know/remember.
I try to end the scripture study by sharing my witness of the Savior or a gospel principle with our children and the feeling that brings is so awesome.
Life is still hard, the kids still fight at times and our home is far from perfect. But these two daily habits, holy habits as I like to call them, have blessed our family.

How I live my faith

The Church has allowed me to meet and work with many wonderful people. In my service in my ward, I am over temple work, which has been a blessing and has helped me be in the temple often. It is a wonderful place of peace and calm from the world. I also get to check up on the widows and I have grown to love these sweet sisters. I also work with families coming back to their faith and church activity and seeing them progress and grow in their love for the Savior is one of the greatest blessings in my life.
