About Me

I'm from southern Idaho, however my family is currently living in Texas. I Love being outdoors and doing things like camping, fishing, hiking, etc. I love reading, especially science fiction. I am the oldest of 5 children and absolutely love being a big brother! I am now attending college in Idaho, having just returned from teaching the gospel the people in and around Phoenix, AZ

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because of the testimony I have received of it. Though I was born into an LDS family I had several experiences that made me want to find out for myself if this church was true. I read through the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I recieved peace that confirmed that what I had been taught was true. I have continued to repeat this pattern to continually strengthen my testimony of the Restored Gospel. And I love the hope and strength that that testimony gives to me. It helps me to move forward with the confidence that no matter what trials I face the Savior will help me through it. And all my mistakes and imperfections can be over come through his sacrifice for me.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We go on missions to be obedient to the Saviors commandment in Matthew chapter 24, verse 14 and chapter 28 verses 19-20 Which tell us to teach and baptize all who will hear His message . We also have a great desire to share the blessings and joy that have come to us through the Gospel with anyone who is willing to listen. I have had many experiences on my mission of sharing the gospel with everyone I come into contact with. And it has brought me great joy to see the blessings that have come to those that have accepted the Gospel and choose to live it.

How I live my faith

I love to talk to people about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I love serving them so that I can share with them the Joy that has been shared with me. I also serve in my local congregation to help bring the men in my area together to serve others in the congregation as well as the community. We try to help them to reach out in love to those around them.

What is the priesthood?

The Priesthood is the authority or permission given to men to act in the name of God. A man must hold the priesthood in order to do things like baptize, give the Gift of the Holy Ghost, bless the sacrament, and bless the sick and afflicted. This authority was lost from the earth after the deaths of Christ's Apostles and was restored to the earth by the Lord through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

I like to approach questions by looking at the words of things

"priest" has reference to either the concept of one who leads, one who is elder, or one who is holy I like to remember that the words 'holy' and 'whole' are linked by a common ancestry. When something is 'holy' it's essentially saying that it's complete, that it's healthy..

And "-hood" makes reference to the state of being, and not just any state of being but a state of being that's worthy or correct for it's placement. That is, that it's done properly.

So one could say the priesthood is leadership or a point of reference that's completely suited to the position in which it's been placed.

Another way to look at it is to say it's God's perfect order. That is, it's God's perfect arrangement.

In our Church we often give a definition of priesthood as being "the authority to act in God's name" and that's exactly what it means to be a part of God's perfect order. If God commands something to be done by you, and you do it, then you are acting under, and with that portion of God's authority that he's permitted you to exercise within his perfect order.

Just as with any instance where someone tries to act in the name of someone else there are bound to be those who try and do so falsely. That's why God has things ordered in such a way that one can know for certain if someone has His God's authority, or not.

As a primary president in my ward, I share in the direction and leadership of our ward. I don't feel secondary in any way. Whether you have the priesthood or not, you are still responsible to listen to the direction of the Savior. The priesthood is a tool and power that is the same power of the Savior. It allows the human authority to do work on earth, particularly perform ordinances, and bless others. As if the Savior was here in person during His ministry accounted for in the New Testament. I would use an analogy to compare the priesthood as a car. A car is an amazing tool allowing you to get you from here to there. I don't mind my husband driving and I can offer some navigation or work the radio, as long as we and our children get there.
