About Me

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. I really love spending time with my family. I love hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, Mountain Dew, hangin' out with the peeps, and eating. I recently returned home from a mission in Oregon. I just like having a good time and I enjoy having a good laugh every so often.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had great parents that have raised me on good morals. There was a time in my life when I did not know what I believed and I really didn't know why I was a Mormon. I really came to know why after I read the Book of Mormon and came to Oregon to share the Gospel by serving a full time mission. I am a Mormon because I have a knowledge that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that God loves us and speaks to us today through living prophets. I am absolutley sure that I am on the path that my Heavenly Father wants me to take and I know I have been blessed for sharing these simple truths to other people. The only thing that matters is that Christ died for me, and it is my responsibility to do everything I can to follow Him. Simply put, I love Jesus Christ and His Church

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.

One of the greatest blessings in my life is the knowlege that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. I know that this event happened, not because somebody told me, but because I have taken the time necessary to gain a knowledge for myself. I have read the Book of Mormon a number of times and I have also read the entire Bible. I know the Book of Mormon is a tool to help us come to this knowledge. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It testifies so purely about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The way it came forth is simple- God loves us, he speaks to prophets, and he would never leave us in darkness. The Book of Mormon tells me that Christ lives as does the Bible. The Book of Mormon tells me that Joseph Smith was chosen to be a prophet of God to bring forth this wonderful work. The Gospel of Christ IS on the earth today and it brings peace to lives. I am a recipient of the blessing that came just becuase a boy said a prayer and did what God told him to do. This is Christ's church on the earth today and I have a knowledge that Christ is the head of it because of study, personal experiences, and prayer.

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I had many great experiences on my mission in Oregon. I saw the lives of others change when they listen to the simple message that we have to share. I have come to know Jesus Christ a lot better from my experieces. I understand what rejection feels like, I understand the joy that comes when we see someone choose to follow the Savior, and I understand what happiness is. I could not have said that before my service as a full-time missionary. I understand that God has a specific plan and that I am simply just a tool in his hands. Serving a mission is one of the greatest blessings of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the Scriptures every day, saying prayers, and attending church every Sunday. I know that I am not perfect, but I live my faith by trying to improve my life each day. I try to keep an Eternal perspective in everything that I do.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

First of all, the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is against God's commandments Moses talks about it in the Old Testament and Paul teaches it to the Romans in the New Testament. Any honest believer of Christianity would accept that such practices are against the commandments of God.
Modern day prophets also tell us that marriage is to be between a man and a woman. God loves all of his children the same, but Just because somebody has tendancies to be attracted to the same sex does not mean that God's laws change.
We believe that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be healed of passions that may dull our spirituality. We do not look down upon any one person who is involved in these practices, but we are here to say that help is available to help overcome all sin. The same goes with any type of sin.

This question is my all time favorite "tough topic" to discuss. I want to start off right off the bat by saying that no matter what you've been told, or who has told you it, Mormons DO NOT "hate" gays and lesbians. Or ANYONE for any reason. Ever. As witnesses of Christ, we do our best to emulate Him and live as He would have us live. That's not to say that we're perfect, because we're not... but I do know that Christ never hated anyone.

Mormons believe in the sanctity of marriage. We believe that God has ordained marriage, and the sacred powers of procreation, to be between a man and a woman. Sexual relations are a sacred thing. We believe that they are to be reserved for marriage. This law, the law of chastity, applies to every spirit son and daughter of God. It doesn't matter if you are attracted to the opposite gender or your same gender, you are commanded to live a chaste and virtuous life. The neat thing about God is that He's "no respecter of persons". This means that God requires the same things of all of us. We are to remain chaste until marriage, and within marriage chastity means that you only have those sacred relations with your spouse.

As a church, we welcome all who want to draw near to Christ. We love everyone, regardless of circumstance, as Christ loves them. We maintain that every single man, woman, and child on this earth is a son or daughter of God, and we treat them accordingly.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely. If God loved his children in ancient times enough to send them, does He love us any less?

Prophets serve at least 2 purposes.

In the past, Christ Jesus personally called prophets, apostles, evangelists, teachers, deacons, etc, according to the Apostle Paul. He uses such leaders to help move His great work forward, because it is through selfless service that we develop Christ-like qualities and allow us to be one with Him so that we may be One with the Father. Having a living prophet allows the Father to teach hitherto new principles or doctrine to all His children. We can always interpret scripture to meet our intimate needs through personal revelation via prayer and communion with the Holy Ghost. But the greatest acts of service are always done through the synergistic power of communities, whether they are a family or a nation. Our Father in Heaven understands this and he communes with his living prophet, Thomas S Monson, in order to bless the lives of all His children regardless of their circumstances or creeds.
