About Me

Hey! Im John White. i was born and raised in Mesa Arizona. I moved with my mom , my Dad and my to sisters to the outer parts of town when i was about 13. I love music and the role it plays in my life, and religion and i enjoy shareing it with others. I plan on attending school for music prodution and recording when i retern from serving a mission in Portland Oregon.

Why I am a Mormon

in life we all want something to hold onto. Something real. we all want our lives to have meaning.
i guess that i am Mormon because it makes sense.. if there is a God, which i believe there is.. this is the way that he would run his church. We have a Prophet so that we arnt left guessing what it is that God wants us to do. We have Gods authority to do his will as is He Himself was here.
I like knowing that the things i do in this life matter.. I enjoy the Peace that comes from knowing that this life isn't just random.. but instead part of a Plan that was Created so that i can become more like my Father in Heaven.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

The Plan Of Happiness has given me such a great sense of purpose in my life.. It is amazing to know that there is an actual physical being that loves me and has provided a way for me to become like Him. THAT IS THE COOLEST!!! to know that even though i cannot see Him I can feel his love and know that I am his son. and that I will be able to live with him again!

How I live my faith

I like to live my faith by shareing the message that Christ's church is established on Earth today just like it was when He Himself was here. I feel like the most important thing that I can do is live by the truths that I have been taught and allow other to follow that example. Christ taught that the members of His church should be a "city that is set on a hill" I try to live my faith my taking that to heart,

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Nope.. The blessings and privilages of the Restored Gospel are avalible to everyone who is moraly worthy.

No. There have never been any race-related restrictions on who joins the church. People of all races and colors have been baptized from the beginning.

However, for a period of time priesthood ordinations in the Church were restricted - This policy was officially changed in 1978 when Official Declaration declared that “every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood, with power to exercise its divine authority, and enjoy with his loved ones every blessing that flows therefrom, including the blessings of the temple. Accordingly, all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color.”

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I just saw news footage where a minister called the Mormon Church a ‘cult’ and the news commentator turned around and said it wasn’t. The news commentator was right. One definition listed for ‘cult’ in Webster’s Dictionary is “a religion regarded as unorthodox.” ‘Unorthodox’ according to whom? Catholicism and over 2000 churches who broke off of the Catholic Church or the original teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ? We believe some of the original doctrines contained in the original Church of Jesus Christ fell into apostasy and were changed by men. One example is the definition of the Godhead as laid out in the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds that are widely accepted by most Catholic and Protestant churches today. We believe the Godhead is made up of three separate and distinct individuals that are one in purpose not in body. When I read about the atonement in Matthew 26:39 (KJV), “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” I believe God the Father, Jesus Christ, Peter and the other Apostles would find the teaching that ‘Jesus Christ was praying to himself’ as quite ‘unorthodox’. I choose to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, not the teachings of men…regardless of the names they choose to call us.
