Hi, I'm Rexley
Im an Artist, A Musician, and a Thinker and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am from Southern California. I sing quite well, I play a little bit of Guitar, a little bit of Piano, but I'm proficient at playing the Ukulele.
Im also a good artist. I can draw and sketch well, and I plan of going to a college or University for it. I currently am serving a mission in St. Louis Missouri, bringing the gospel to those who seek for something better in their lives.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in the church, always knowing what the beliefs were. I was always prone to be spiritual, but I also love reason, and intellect. I love philosophy and sopisticated topics, not because I try to be an a smartypants, but because I have a love for learning. I have to admit that if I were ever to reject "Mormonism", I would also reject Religion in general, mostly because I found a lack of purpose, or lack of knowledge, or a lack of sensibilty in all other religions I had researched, which was a lot. There are many whom I would consider good friends who decide to be without theology, or Athiest as some may say, who had convincing reason as to why such a thing or being as God could not exist. It was only until I became a teenager that I decided to really learn why people believed in the Book of Mormon, the book upon which all of the claims of the church hangs on. I read it and found truth and reason, as well as a powerful feeling of happiness, but most importantly I felt the Holy Ghost, and I am sure that the reaction my body had to his presence is proof that there is more than reason that is involved, and should be involved in deciding the truthfulness of the faith.
Mind you, I never before truly knew whether or not what Mormons believed was truth. It was what I grew up learning but I had to know for myself whether or not it was real. I now know for sure that it is.
Though life is not always easy, I know who I am, and I know, absent of doubt, that my Heavenly Father loves me, so that makes everything in life worthwhile.
Personal Stories
What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope is the "looking up toward the prize" after anything and everything. Hope is what we give ourselves in the weakest moments of our existance that makes us more than the mere creature but the glorious indestructible being we are meant to be. Hope is the ray of light that needs no bulb or flame to peirce the darkness in our lives. Hope is the realization that the once unachievable is in fact the achievable. Hope is the hammer that breaks the hallow doubts thrown at us. Hope is the soft net that stops us from falling when we slip off the highwire.
I hope for the sucess in my life adventure to be fruitfull and satisfying. I hope for the ideal response to the next intriguing circumstance. I hope to find myslef someday, after following the footprints left by the Savior, looking at the heavenly throne, seeing God, and thinking to myself "I made it, Im home."
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?
I have been most influenced by the Savior's teaching of love. The Love for others, for God, and for yourself. Sometimes, I am overwhelmed by the power behind love. I know it is Godly, I know it is of Jesus Christ. To love someone, with a true love, whether it be Family, friend's, or merely other people means to recognize them, beyond the skin, beyond the words, beyond all of the things that reflect their person. We cease to look at reflections and start to see the real them. That is the power of love, and it is beautiful and magnificent. The Savior not only taught us this love but showed us this love and gave definition through his display of love. It warms my heart knowing that this kind of love part of what we believe in, and what we strive to show. I know that God, actually loves me, of all people, and he loves you, and that passerby you saw on the street, he sees them for who they really are beyond the shell, and he extends to them the greatest things he can give us. The Almighty God, extending the best of what he is capable of giving, thats Love, that to me is very influencial.
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
Just knowing that there is a purpose for why everything is the way it is makes me happy, but there is much more than just a happy reaction. I look at life with an eternal perspective, and I realize that what I do here at this time will echo and ripple and setup what I will experience for eternity. God has a plan for me, and I know that he does for all others too, and best of all I know without a doubt that there is a happily ever after. That line, though seeming to be cliche, is true for all of us. That is the way it always has been, and that is the way is always shall be, henceforth and forever.
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is exteremly big part of my life. Prayer is not wishing to me. It is not saying "Dear almighty creator, please give me what I want, I love you, pray to ya later! bye!" that is certainly not the kind of prayer I partake in. Prayer to me is a loving time of correspondance with your father in heaven, who is also the Supreme govenor of all things within known existance. It is personal and in-depth. Some might say that having a personal realtionship is God is a crazy idea, but to me it is a magnificent idea! Why would anyone ask the question "I wonder if God..." when they could simply take it to God himself. I know that God loves me, not because I have been told this by a book or a person, but because he has told me himself. I know im not anymore special than the next person, but I also know that we are children of our heavenly father and he loves you and has important things that you must hear from him and him alone. There is nothing wrong about having a very personal relationship with God, because he is who we should all strive to be like! Without prayer I would give up trying to figure out the confusing world of theology with its many twists and turns and words and doctrines. I would always wonder who is right? Who could tell me what is true? Fortunately because of the blessing of prayer we can go directly to the source of all truth both finite and infinite. I cherish my prayers with my heavenly father and and exhort all people to cherish prayer as well.
How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?
Life is certainly an andventure story for each of us and like every adventure story, there is always elements of actions both natural and unnatural, there is times of slowness, setting the stage for yet another storyline to climax and then declimax. It would be unrealistic to say that harmony is never lost. It is tragic when the circumstances cause tension and create havoc to the once comfortable and peaceful sanctuary called Home. Sometimes the members of our families, while in the pursuit of certain goals strain the relationships they have with others. This can easily pull the home and those dwelling inside of it apart. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is remarkable for the family because as soon as someone relates it to a mode of happiness then they have a clear and unchangeable goal to aim for, and as every member follows the path of the savior through his gospel they will be walking the same path as those in their family. That is how we achieve greater harmony in our homes and that is how the climaxes in our story are resolved in a way where the declimax is a happy one.
How I live my faith
I am currently serving a mission in the Missouri, St. Louis mission. With all the lord has given me, I want to give others the same joy and truth I have. However, before I went to serve the Lord, I just lived life singing, learning and loving.
