Amy: hysterectomy, opera, single, endometriosis, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Amy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single, active member of the Church. I sing with the community opera theatre having discovered this talent later in life. I have performed in various rolls: as Frasquita in Bizet's "Carmen" (my debut); as a shepherdess in Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors"; and as The Countess in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Gondaliers". I have a Bachelor's Degree in Geography. I enjoy reading, cooking, music, PBS documentaries, atlases, maps, road trips, and spending time with family. I served a spanish-speaking mission in South America. Recently I had to undergo a hysterectomy for endometriosis - this was a decision long in coming. During the surgery they discovered I also had two borderline cancerous tumors which were subsequently removed. I am at peace with my decision and know that one day I will be blessed with a family of my own. I continue to sing with a community chamber choir and also have had various opportunities to solo in a major resort town in Idaho. A busy schedule with church, work, community singing, and brother/sisters and nieces/nephews keeps my life full and blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. I have chosen to continue in the Church as an active member because I believe that it is through our Heavenly Father's plan that we can truly understand how to live a full and happy life on Earth. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan of happiness, of how to find happiness on this Earth in all realms of society. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ understand how we can overcome our mortal trials and failings and have a sense of contentment and purpose. I believe that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have a plan for each of us. I believe that by obedience to principles and ordinances taught within the gospel of Jesus Christ that we can be happy and contented on Earth. I believe that it is within the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that we learn about all the principles of happiness and all the ordinances necessary to live Eternal Life. I believe that happiness and contentedness is possible for all people. I know that Heavenly Father is real, that his Son is Jesus Christ. I know that the Bible is the word of God and that the Book or Mormon is a spiritual record of the people on the American Continent from 600 BC to approximately 475 AD and that it is scripture.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I had the opportunity to serve a mission in South America. Missionary work helps take the message of the restored truth of Jesus Christ and His ministry to the world. We want all people to know that our Heavenly Father has answered all the important questions already - Who are we? Why are we here? What will happen after we die? We can know the answers to life's most important questions - they are not mysterious and for only a few to understand. We can all know for ourselves!

How I live my faith

I live my faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by being example of goodness and charity. I strive to be wholesome in my activities and interactions with others.
