Hi, I'm Tyler
I love the Lord. I strive to do His will. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am personable; I read scriptures every morning and evening; I pray throughout the day; I strive to maintain my worthiness; I enjoy serving others; I love to sing; I want to have a family; I want to live a life that is pleasing to God; I am blessed to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Why I am a Mormon
I was baptized on April 16, 2011, at the age of 18. I did not grow up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the month of January, 2010, I felt a rather sudden impulse to explore Christianity, and soon found myself attending church with some friends who are Latter-day Saints. A year later, after learning a great deal about many Christian denominations, I chose to be baptized and confirmed. I have received countless blessings because of that choice, and have never felt greater happiness than I do now. I know that God means for me to be a member of this church, and I know that it provides happiness and truth to all the members of the body of Christ. I have been assured by the Holy Spirit that this church is His, and I intend to serve Him to the best of my ability. All those who ask with an open heart as to the truthfulness of this church will come to know that it is indeed the true Church of Jesus Christ. If you have not already pondered whether this might be the true Church, I implore you to do so, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is the means by which people can receive guidance, support, and comfort from our Father in heaven. Because of Christ's atonement, all people may have a personal relationship with God through prayer. The Holy Ghost answers prayers with revelations and promptings, providing direction in life. I pray often throughout my day. In the morning, my prayers are for strength to live up to God's expectations on that day, while my nightly prayers are of gratitude for the Lord's hand in my life. Prayer is what keeps my faith alive, because it is how I can communicate with my Heavenly Father, and how I know that He loves me and wants the best for me.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
The Spirit is strong within Latter-day Saints, as we have been confirmed with its presence. We are driven to share what we know to be the truth with the world, and choose to go on missions in order to do so. The desire to serve a mission is one that comes from within, from the Spirit. The closer one is to God, the greater the desire to serve Him, and working to bring His children back to Him is a great calling indeed. Spending two years of life serving God wholly is a strength to one's testimony and faith, and is worth every moment. Missionaries come home having been shaped and molded by the Lord; they become more righteous, and they have a greater understanding of the Lord's work.
What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?
My life has been blessed with peace since I came to have faith in Jesus Christ. I have never found myself in a situation where I had need to fear, because I know of God's presence in my life. It has become so easy to act righteously since receiving the Holy Spirit, and my faith has grown immensely. My conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints took time, but my faith has led me to the truth, and has set me on a path of righteousness from which I will not stray. I know that I will be safe always, for as long as I continue to have faith. The feeling of comfort inspired by the Spirit is itself a blessing in my life; there is no greater comfort than to know that you are doing right by God.
Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?
Sharing the gospel is easy for me because I have the faith and desire to do so. By becoming open to sharing with friends, and being unafraid to talk to friends as well as strangers about religion, God can use me as an instrument of righteousness. Personally, I start conversations by simply asking whether or not that person attends church regularly. I always feel the Spirit when I begin such conversations, and it gives me peace and shows me what to say. After offering a few different people a Book of Mormon, it became easier to share, and easier to see the beauty in planting those seeds. I find that if I regularly consider who I could give a Book of Mormon to in my life, I am more comfortable with the idea of doing it. Making a plan about when and where to talk to somebody about the gospel without cornering them is a great way for me to teach them about the gospel, and hopefully spark their interest. The most important thing when sharing the gospel is to let the Spirit do the talking; it speaks directly to the heart.
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
I was not raised as a Latter-day Saint, so I was invited to read the Book of Mormon in order to find out whether or not The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of God. Upon reading the Book of Mormon, I immediately felt closer to God, and the Spirit filled me with His love, and I came to know that this church is true. I cannot adequately express the feelings that overcame me as I read the Book of Mormon. The best I can do is invite you to read it for yourself, and have you know that you will be blessed if you choose to do so.
How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?
The Book of Mormon is filled with examples of goodness and righteousness, and provides me with endless encouragement. Whenever I read the Book of Mormon, I can feel the Spirit's presence, leading me to truths that will help me live my life in righteousness. The Book of Mormon has shown me the importance of having faith in Jesus Christ, with no regard to those who deny His existence or divinity. The people in the Book of Mormon showed great faith in Jesus Christ, even before He had come to this world, and I will strive to have such faith in my life. Our purpose here is to do God's will so that we may gain eternal life with Him. The people in the Book of Mormon understood this, and they demonstrated it by faithfully keeping records of their people as God commanded them. Without their faithfulness and willingness to obey, we would not have the Book of Mormon.
What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope is a desire that certain things will be true. Hope can become an expectation that those things will be true, at which point hope becomes faith. Faith in turn becomes a knowledge that certain things are true, and the Spirit confirms these things. I hope that God's righteousness will overcome all doubt and fear, and that His kingdom will grow in numbers as more people accept the gospel. I hope that I will choose the right, and that I will be worthy of any calling in the Church. My hopes are strengthened by the Spirit, and I have no doubt that God exists and that He will fulfill His promises and His intentions.
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
The Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, is what allows me to know that I am on the right track, and that God is active in my life. Every time I feel the Spirit, I am reaffirmed in my faith. The Spirit gives me strength when I am weak, guidance when I am lost, comfort when I am in need, and faith when I am struggling. The Holy Ghost changes my perception of life; it changes my limited perspective to an eternal one, and I know that so long as I have the companionship of the Spirit, everything will be okay.
How has attending Church services helped you?
Attending Church has allowed me to learn and grow within a community of faithful followers of Christ. The testimonies of the people in my ward help me build up my own testimony so that when I am not with them I can still be strong in the gospel. Having a wonderful community of people to go to is something that anybody can appreciate. Church services also give me the opportunity to take the sacrament and renew my baptismal covenants. Each Sunday I am rejuvenated, and my faith is strengthened as I look back on the preceding week and see how much the Lord can bless my life in such a short period of time. Church is where it all comes together. It is a place where I can be with God, as well as with my brethren and sisters who are striving to live by His commandments.
How I live my faith
The most important thing I do for my faith is act according to the principles of the gospel, doing my best to serve God in all things. My choices show the people around me what it is to truly serve the Lord, from the greatest to the least decision of each day. By simply showing people how joyful I am because of my relationship with God, I can show them the love of God. If my life is not a positive example for all who see me, then I have not done my duty. By acting with love in all things, I can help people find the truth.
