About Me

I am about to graduate from college with a Bachelor's in Exercise Physiology, my two favorite sports in the whole world are Ultimate Frisbee and wake boarding. I love country music - even the twangy stuff! I go country dancing on a weekly basis and have the time of my life. I love spending time with my family, all my siblings are grown up and married and so I jump at any chance I get to spend time with them. Also, my parents are possibly the most intelligent people in the whole world.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know it's true. I have a firm testimony of my Savior and my Heavenly Father and their love for me. I still have trials and hard times, some times I bring them on my self by not living as strictly obedient as I should, and other times they come as a refining agent to help me become a better person, but I live in the comfort of knowing that Heavenly Father has promised that these will all work together for my good.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is so essential in my life. I love the fact that I can communicate with my Heavenly Father so easily. Prayer is always there no matter what you are going through, "sometimes you stand the tallest whilst praying on your knees." I am in the process (a life long process) of coming to know my Heavenly Father better, through prayer. He has answered my prayers in many instances in very personal ways. I know the Lord is mindful of me, and that He loves me very much. I am so grateful for prayer.

How I live my faith

The main way I live my faith is honestly just by being me. The faith I have is a part of my everyday actions, it dictates the way I dress, the way I talk, the places I go and don't go, the things I do, the organizations I choose to be affiliated with. My faith is literally a part of me. Other ways I live my faith include attending church every Sunday, keeping the sabbath day holy, contributing to Sunday school classes and loving the people around me. I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I am working really hard to be the very best I can. I am trying to live a life of high quality, one that I know my Savior would be proud of.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Everything in nature tells me that there is a God. The universe is so ordered, so perfectly in harmony. If you really study our wonderful little planet, you'll learn that it is so amazingly unique to be able to sustain life, that there is just no way the earth and its inhabitants were merely created by chance. The most important reason I know there is a God, though, is because I have felt his presence in my life. I identify with Fyodor Dostoevsky, who once wrote: "It is not as a child that I believe and confess Jesus Christ. My hosanna is born of a furnace of doubt." I respect people who find it difficult or impossible to believe, because of the incongruity of so much unjustifiable hurt and pain in the world or because the affirmative evidence for God's existence does not seem compelling. But yet I believe. I believe in a God who is powerful, knowledgeable, loving and good. I see God in the heavens and earth. I see God in the principles of physics, evolution and natural selection, psychology, engineering, mathematics, the arts and the humanities, among others. I see God in the multitude of faith (or nonfaith) traditions throughout the world and among all peoples, giving meaning, purpose and direction to God's children and creations. Yes, there is much inexplicable hurt, pain and injury in the world, and yes, God's respect for our free will and freedom to believe requires that the evidence for God be noncompelling. I do not pretend to know easy answers; I look forward one day to receiving explanations or understanding of those tough questions. In the meantime, I am grateful for the whisperings from God's spirit and for occasional experiences that, to me, seem like "postcards from God", confirming to me God's love and care for me and for all creation. How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Modesty is almost a precursor for chastity. They are the built upon the doctrine of the sanctity of our body. By being modest in our actions and dress we outwardly show our understanding that we, as a soul, are more than just an object to be flaunted. Our body is a gift from God and he has asked us to save intimacy until after we are married. We show respect for him and ourselves if we hold off until marriage and always dress and act modestly. This principle can be taught to children through example, first and foremost, but also by being honest and explaining to them the importance of it and why we are asked to live it. Use the Holy Ghost as your guide as you teach your children. Show more Show less
