About Me

I grew up in Texas. I am currently going to college. My two passions in life are longboarding and sketching. I'm a pretty average guy that gets along well with everyone.

Why I am a Mormon

I was converted during my senior year in High School in November of 2009 by my best friend. One day in class, we were all going around telling everyone where we were going to go to college. When it got to my turn, I had no clue where I was going and my friend said, "Why don't you come to BYU with me?" I said, "Well, I don't have anywhere else picked out, so why not?" After this, he started to invite me to Church and various other functions. I knew that what I was doing was the right thing. I had a feeling that going to Church was the right step in my life. I started meeting with the missionaries and I was on the fast track for baptism.

Personal Stories

Could you talk about your baptism?

My baptism was the most amazing experience of my life. It was the reward at the end of a long series of discussions with the missionaries. It was my opportunity to show the Lord that I was willing to take His name upon me, follow His teachings, and live my life according to His will. It was amazing to see how many people came to my baptism. All my friends that were not members, many people from the ward who I didn't know but they knew me, as well as many of the missionaries in the area that I had never met. The ceremony was extremely spiritual and there was a feeling of such peace in the room. I had never felt so good in my life. I knew that this was the beginning of a walk down the best road that I could be on. A road that leads straight to Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

The Gospel has changed my life. I am so much more happy now and much more willing to help other people and be there for them. I do everything I can to help other people. I frequently do service work to better the community. I am planning on hosting an annual longboarding event to help teach the youth how to longboard and skateboard and provide them with a safe wholesome environment to do so in. I have a strong testimony of the Gospel and everything about the Church. I know without a doubt that the Lord is our Father in Heaven and that He cares for each one of us. He knows all of our different situations and He would do anything for us. I know that He sent his only Son to earth to sacrifice Himself for the good of all of mankind. I know that through this act, every person can be cleansed of their sins, turn their life over to the Lord, and return to live with Him again.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. He is a man chosen by the Lord to lead this church and provide guidance and revelation to all the members. He is put here to be a direct path from our Father in Heaven to the members. The prophet is a tool in the hands of the Lord to help every one of us to live our lives to the best we can. What the prophet says is inspired by the Lord to maximize the benefit of hearing his words for the members of the church. He leads and guides us all so that we may know the will of the Lord and know how to follow it so that we may return to live with Him. I know that the prophet truly lives purely to be the mouthpiece of the Lord for our benefit. Thomas S. Monson is an amazing man. As I have read the things that he has said and have studied his life, I have grown in appreciation for him and for all of the previous prophets. They are all amazing men who desire nothing more than the salvation of our souls. I know without a doubt that the prophets and the Lord have our best interests at heart and will never lead us astray.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. Our leaders have always operated from the concept that if we teach one another correct principles, we will then make correct choices and govern ourselves. The Church encourages each person to carefully consider every issue and each candidate and to prayfully seek guidance and then to vote responsibily. We are encouraged to be involved with our communities and nation but the Church does not take political positions or endorse parties or individuals.
