Hi, I'm Claire
I love to play sports, my favorite color is green, I love cows and I'm a Mormon :)
About Me
I recently finished my first year of college and loved it! I still don't know what I'm going to study because I want to do everything! I love everything about music singing, dancing, playing the piano and violin. I also am passionate about playing sports, no matter what it is. I've been on soccer, volleyball, badminton, track, basketball, flag football, frisbee, and softball teams and loved each one! I am out going and love to meet new people. Milk is my favorite beverage and because of that cows are my favorite animals, along with whales and elephants. I would pick summer of winter ANY day because I love to be outdoors and in the sun, but I sure do appreciate a good rainstorm.
Why I am a Mormon
Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has brought so much joy to my life. I know it seems silly because most people are aware of all the things we can't do, but what may look like silly rules or restrictions, are really blessings in disguise. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ has helped keep me safe and avoid problems that would bring unhappiness. An example of this is my knowledge of the word of wisdom. The word of wisdom was revealed as a commandment of the things that we should not partake of, such as alcohol, drugs, or other addictive substances. Since these things are so common in the world today, they don't seem like such a big problem but I know that because I have abstained from using these substances and followed the world of wisdom I have been blessed with a healthy body and I will not have to suffer the effects of them. I can have complete control over my mind and body. I know that when I strive to live the gospel, Heavenly Father is happy and wants to much to bless me and He feels that way about each of his children.
I have a testimony of the importance of families. As a member of the church I know that the family is essential to our Heavenly Father's plan. I was blessed with an amazing family that has always loved and watched over me. I know that I can be with them forever, even after death, because my parents were sealed in the temple by the property authority. I know that when I am married and sealed in the temple, I will also be sealed to my spouse and children forever and can be with them after death.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
Growing up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints isn't easy because their a many difficult choices we have to make. When I was younger, I was very involved in athletics, specifically a competitive soccer team. We traveled all over the state playing in tournaments and league play. We won state championships and a regional tournament and became nationally ranked number one. As we grew older, league play was switched to Sundays. As a child I was taught to observe the sabbath day and keep it holy. Sunday is a day of rest when we attend church and worship our Father in Heaven. Although it was a very difficult decision, their was no doubt in my mind that I made the right choice when I decided not to play soccer. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make and I felt a huge sense of loss. Even now I get discouraged because I see my friends and teammates that I played with being recognized because they are playing at D1 universities all over the nation, some on full-ride scholarships. I know that I would have had those same opportunities and realize it was a lot to give up. However, I still know that I did the right thing. When I am faced with challenges these days I look back on that decision I made and remind myself that I was able to give that up for something more important. Since it was such a hard choice I tell myself that I can always choose the right no matter how hard. Knowing that I am able to do hard things and give up something I was so passionate about motivates me to continue to choose the right so that my sacrifice would not be in vain.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I have had the great opportunity to bless others with my musical abilities. Growing up I was blessed to receive music lessons on the piano. Although I loved to play I was very shy and feared playing in front of other people. As I grew older though the opportunity presented itself to accompany as members sang hymns. Although I was afraid to play in front of other, I wanted to share my talents. I know that as i played the piano for people to sing, they were able to feel the spirit as they sang and come closer to their Heavenly Father. As I blessed others lives by accompanying in church meetings, I in return was blessed and my talents developed.
How I live my faith
I love the opportunities I have had to serve in my church as a single college student. I am able to attend church with other single adults that are also attending school. I get to play the music in church each Sunday when we gather for our meetings. Also, I get to plan activities throughout the week for the woman I attend church with so we can build friendships and learn more of Christ.
Besides the service I do, I live my faith each day when I kneel to pray to my Heavenly Father and when I take time to study the Book of Mormon. Each of these things help me to strengthen my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer helps me to develop a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father and the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, along with the bible.
