Hi, I'm Cindy
I grew up in Utah, and have lived in New Jersey, Long Island, Idaho, California, Arizona, Texas and Mexico. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am the mother of four adult children. I have one granddaughter and another one on the way. I graduated from Weber State University and am currently a paralegal and a non-attorney representative, helping people obtain Social Security disability benefits. I have lived on both coasts of the US, as well as in Monterrey, Mexico. I am an avid reader.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into the Church, and didn't know anything different until I was called to serve a mission in the New York, New York City mission when I was 21 years old. What an eye opener! I met people there from every possible religion and persuasion, and learned just how different we, as members of the Church really are and how blessed we are in our understanding of the Gospel and the Plan of Salvation. I always assumed that everyone beleived as I do, that we lived with Heavenly Father before we came to earth, and that we will return to live with Him after we die. I found that not to be true. I am very grateful for my knowledge that we have the opportunity to return to our Heavenly home after our death. It makes accepting the death of loved ones much more possible, since we know we will see, and know and love them again in the eternities, and that death is just a temporary separation.
Personal Stories
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
One of the missions of the Church is to unite families through the generations. They do this through the Family History program, encouraging members and non-members alike to research their families and leaarn more about their ancestors. I participate in this by helping with the Family Search Indexing program. The Church is microfilming genealogical records throughout the world. They then make these records available online for researchers and others who want to find their ancestors. The indexing program helps in this effort by volunteers reading these records over their computers, and then typing in the information they see so that others can find the information digitally on their computers, without having to search through the many, many records for their individual ancestors. Everyone is welcome to be part of this indexing program, whether or not they are members of the Church.
How I live my faith
I attend church in a Spanish speaking congregation, and enjoy participating with them and sharing the Lord's spirit in our meetings.
