i grew up in northern Utah. i love video games, rock climbing, snowboarding, hanging out with my friends and just being happy.

About Me

my name is Christopher i go by chris though, i absolutaly love playing with computers (taking them apart, putting them back together etc.) i enjoy plaing video games, hanging out with my friends, rock climbing, snowboarding, and being a happy laughy goofy kid that probably needs to grow up a bit.

right now i am serving a 2 year full time service mission for the church. as such i go around all day making new friends and talking to them about Jesus Christ and his church here on the earth. and what it can do for them me and you.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and have been raised that way but that is not the reason why im a Mormon. The reason that i am a Mormon is because of several experiences i have had while at church, and through lessons, but most impoirtantly through prayer. Through prayer i have received knowledge that the things i have grown up learning about, and everything i know about the church and about being a christian, is true. I know that God is there and he does love us, i know that Joseph smith was a prophet and that he was called of God to restore the true church of Jesus Christ after the long dark night of the apostacy. I know that President Monson is The Prophet today just as Joseph Smith was in the 1800's and just as Moses, Abraham and others were prophets in aincent days. I know that the book of mormon is true, that the words recorded there in were given to prophets of old just as much for the people then as for the people now.

I also know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, Ment for our learning and understanding in these last days. And i know that, when used with the Bible, if you or any man (or Woman) will but read and pray about these things, with a sincere desire of heart and with real intent in your minds, to Heavenly Father and ask in faith to know the truth of all things in this matter. I KNOW that God will make the truth of the matter known to you personaly though the Holy Ghost. Through that comfortable warmth and peace that comes to each of us when we come in contact with that Great Comforter which was prommised to come unto us after Christ left the Earth.

This is my solem testimony to you no matter who you are are what your situation is. That Jesus Is the Christ, he lives and loves us and wants us to be happy. And as our Father who is in Heaven will do all that he can to help us on our way, by giving us truth and light, and forgiving us our transgressions after all we can do. This i say in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

The missions of the church.... where do i begin? Well lets start with missionaries; first, I am one. As a missionary, I spend all of my time going around finding people and talking to them about our Savior Jesus Christ and his church. We teach people about how the church can help bring them closer to Christ, and how, through the Preisthood authority (the authority to act in Christ's name), we can be Baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and receive all the other things that we, as children of God, need to be saved from our fallen state. As Missionaries, we also teach people about God's plan for us which answers the questions where did we come from, why are we here, and where are we going? Quite simply, we do our very best to bring the light of Christ to people so that they can feel it and come unto Christ in the manner which he has specified.

This work that we do as missionaries is so amazing and brings so much happiness to everyone, that we can't help but share it with the world, quite literally. These "missions" we talk about are all over the world. For example, there is at least one in every state of the U.S. there are some in Japan, Africa, Austrailia, New Zeland, and in many other contries across the Globe. A mission is a group of missionaries that can range from fifty to hundreds under the leadership of a "president". That president is in charge of all the missionaries who have been called by the lord to serve him. He helps to maintain their spiritual and physical well being and to give them guidence and encouragement on how to best go about their service.

I know that the message that we share is the true word of God, and that any who will hear us and pray about the things we share, can and will know for themselves that this is so. So next time you see some missionaries or they come knocking, let them share with you their message and see for yourself that we are simply spreading the word of God. How I live my faith

in my personal life i live my faith by doing my best to live life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. i have studyed the Scriptures in my youth and have sought to keep the commandments, i have given service to my fellow men, i have gone to church my whole life and done my best to be a good Christian.

now that im 19 i have the opportunity to voulenteer to serve a mission for the church. as i pondered on this oppurtunity i saw it for what it realy was. it is the oppertunity to go and do as Jesus Christ has asked, to preach his gosple and serve my fellow men. and when i realised that i had no real reason not to go and every reason to go. so here i am, i have been called to serve in the state of South Carolina and to love and serve the people here and i have to say i am loveing every minute.

As a Missionairy for the Church i have noticed something that i had only rarely noticed before in my life and that is the Overwhelming fact that God, our Heavenly Father loves us so incredibly much that he had the Earth, and everything on and around it, created for us that we might use it to learn and grow in a matter that will cause us to have everlasting joy. i have also come to notice the Many miracles that are granted to us each day of our lives and i have learned to live each day in thanksgiving to God for the many miracles great and small that occure each day. there have been times where i have felt as the prophets of old have just after they have seen a vision. so filled with the knowlede of Gods love that i just want to spend all the day long giving Thanks to God and Praising his Holy name. and i would say that that is the way that all of us should strive to spend our days. in thanks to our great God above for this earth, for this life, for his plan of salvation, and for the oppurtunity to learn, grow and eventualy become as he is. even as he has asked us to be.

what mormons believe about the holy ghost, well first to answer this question i must explain the God head which consists of God our Eternal Father, Jesus Christ his son, and the Holy Ghost. they are three distinct and seperate beings that all have different roles. that being said the Holy Ghost is the third member of the God head he is a spirit personage that has neither flesh nor blood whos role is to dwell in the hearts of men and testify unto them of things that are true. we beleive that the spirit can be felt in many ways but none of them are loud, crazy, excentric or wild. but rather that the spirit speaks softly and quietly to our hearts almost as a whisper, something that can not be heard over the tremendous shout of the things of this world. so in reality the spirit must be sought, in quiet, deep, spiritual settings through setting such as prayer and scripture study. it must be found when we are seeking, reading or hearing truth.

we as Latter day saints have all had the "gift of the holy ghost" given to us. which is to say that through ablessing given by the authority of God we were given the Holy Ghost as a constant companion to lead us and guide us. it helps us to make the correct decisions when we know not what to do. and as previously stated it testifyes to our hearts of truth when we come in contact with it. the Holy Ghost is the reason that any of us as members of the church can say I beleive this or i know that to be the truth.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

At various times, the Lord has commanded His people to practice plural marriage. For example, He gave this command to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon (Doctrine and Covenants 132:1). At other times the Lord has given other instructions. In the Book of Mormon, the Lord told the prophet Jacob “for there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife: and concubines he shall have none... for if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things” (Jacob 2:27-30).

In this dispensation, the Lord commanded some of the early Saints to practice plural marriage. The Prophet Joseph Smith and those closest to him, including Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball, were challenged by this command, but they obeyed it. Church leaders regulated the practice. Those entering into it had to be authorized to do so, and the marriages had to be performed through the sealing power of the priesthood. In 1890, President Wilford Woodruff received a revelation that the leaders of the Church should cease teaching the practice of plural marriage (Official Declaration 1).

The Lord’s law of marriage is monogamy unless he commands otherwise to help establish the House of Israel (see Encyclopedia of Mormonism Vol. 3, pp. 1091-1095).
